What is Street photography (your definition)

Street photography is a genre of photography that captures candid moments in public spaces, focusing on everyday life and the human experience. It often emphasizes spontaneous interactions, urban environments, and the intricacies of social dynamics. Street photographers aim to document the world around them, highlighting the nuances of daily life, emotions, and the atmosphere of a location, often with an artistic or narrative perspective.

My Artist:

Ernst Haas was known for his pioneering work in color photography and is often associated with the photojournalism and fine art photography movements. His style is characterized by a vibrant use of color, spontaneity, and a focus on capturing fleeting moments. Haas was also influential in the use of abstract forms and impressionistic techniques in photography, blending artistic expression with documentary practices. His work often emphasized the emotional and aesthetic aspects of everyday life.

I want to focus on how is people having contact or relation with the environment. For example in this picture two man are having interactions with the waterfall。

.

In the photograph, two person in a white robes stand in front of a waterfall, creating a beautiful contrast between their calm presence and the rushing water. Their white clothing symbolizes purity and spirituality, suggesting they may be engaged in a ritual or moment of reflection, and also interactions with the surrounding environment. With their hands clasped together, they appear to be in a state of prayer, indicating a deep connection to something greater. The mist from the waterfall surrounds them, adding a dreamy quality that enhances the sense of peace and contemplation. Overall, the image captures a meaningful moment where human spirituality merges with the beauty of nature.

This photograph brings a lively street scene to life, filled with energy and everyday moments. In the foreground, someone is sweeping the sidewalk, showing how important it is to keep the area tidy and welcoming, also shows how the person is interacting with the environment. Bright, colorful signs in Chinese draw your eye to local shops, inviting everyone to explore what they have to offer and adding to the vibrant culture. You can spot pedestrians and bicycles, which create a sense of movement and community, making the street feel alive. Overall, this image beautifully captures the joyful connection between people, businesses, and the bustling city around them.

Both images highlight cultural aspects and show people in various activities. In the first image, someone is cleaning in a busy city street, while the second shows people praying at a waterfall. Each scene contrasts human actions with its surroundings—the first reflects the lively city life, and the second emphasizes the natural beauty of water. And both are having connections with environment. Despite their different settings, both images are filled with bright colors; the street has colorful signs, while the waterfall scene features peaceful white robes and mist. They also convey a sense of community, whether through the everyday lives of city dwellers or the shared spiritual moments at the waterfall. These similarities illustrate how different places and activities can connect to culture and humanity.
