My project overall works pretty well, I originally thought that the cardboard wouldn’t hold the motor and the solar panel however it turned out to be pretty durable, I could’ve stuck everything else to the inside however; I think it works fine as it is, therefore, there is not much need. as I mentioned before, the whole product works pretty well and is able to serve its purpose, the flaws of it are also very obvious – the appearance is very not appealing to the user (This is what I got from almost every feedback) as well as the size of it which I believe is too massive. Although cardboard is durable, however, it would probably be better if I 3d printed the case of the fan. Another flaw is the noise that it creates when it turns on which might be annoying to some users. This product is pretty environment friendly as it uses solar panels. if I have to say then it would be the cardboard that I have used for the case if you dispose it. To sum up, although I have improved some of the aspects however there are still many things yet to be revised, at the same time; I have also made some improvements and successful parts within the project as well as learned new skills. For instance, I didn’t have any knowledge of soldering and circuiting.

What am I making?

the product that I will be working on is a fan that has batteries that can be charged with a solar panel, The fan should be big enough and the motor should spin fast enough so that there is actually wind coming out, this also depends on the battery that I will be using which I will test and use the one that fits, this is for safety when the user is using the product. to further assure the safety of the user, I will be using a plastic fan instead of other hard materials so that the user doesn’t cut their hands off. I will also be doing research about the concept behind how I will put everything together. (How the solar panel charges the battery and gives energy to the motor) after putting everything in place and testing it so that it works, I will create a case/shell for the fan so that it is usable which I have already created the dimensions for. (Everything(Materials)  else are provided within the school).

Materials that I will be needing in this product is:

Cardboards which I will be using for the case of the fan.

motor and a fan,

a solar panel that charges the batteries.

The circuit board that operates and connects the entire product together.

Solar Panel Charging Fan

This project shows the energy transfer from the solar panel converting light into energy which alternately charges the batteries when the switch is turned on, This then turns the motor on, operating the fan.

This project is mainly designed for the user who often spends much time outside where there aren’t able to charge, solar panels can power on the fan.

So far the project is going pretty good as I have finished soldering the solar panel to the switch and to the batteries, this then connects to the diode and lastly to the circuit board, this also applies to the switch that operates the fan.

The solar panel is then wired and connected to a switch that turns the charging on/off

while the other switch turns the motor of the fan on/off

Two 8w batteries are used in this project for the fan to operate

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is the overall view of the project which i later designed a case/protection around it to make it actually usable for the user.

This project is not simply easy/convenient for the user to use, however; it is also really also environmental friendly as it uses solar panels, the fan is also pretty durable if you don’t break it intentionally and it is also considered quite safe for the user despite that I spins quite fast however its made out of plastic. However, it might still be hazardous to children who are under five.

the overall product although has a moderate function and is should be able to satisfy the needs of the user however the appearance is one of the flaws as well as the fact that it is quite massive to be carried around. Therefore this should be something that i will have to amend and improve on..

Fidget Toy (Switch)

This toy helps to deal with stress when they are overwhelmed, it is also researched that it helps with focusing and improving attention, for individuals, it would be also safer rather than holding something dangerous. When you apply kinetic energy on one side of the switch, the motion of toggling (the force sends the other side of the switch will move upwards. This is due to the shape of the switch itself.

 

Mechanical switch (Keyboard)

For this president, I believe it serves the same purpose as the first one, it releases stress for the user. The concept inside is more complicated – The key is constructed of a spring, a base and a stem. As you apply kinetic energy when pressing the key, it gives pressure to the spring and when you release the stem bounces back resulting in a click sound.
