School should ban cell phones

Schools should ban cell phones, because of many reasons. First, it will make cyberbullying happen in school. Second,  it contributes negatively to the student’s health. However, some people say that phones are a remarkable tool for studying.  But, cell phones can make students unhealthy.

Cell phones should be banned in school, because of cyberbullying. There is an article written by Boccela Kathy saying about this problem. It says:” Administrators, though, have become alarmed bu student’s increasing use of smartphones to bully each other during school hours to engage in escalating disputes, and even to arrange flights that are posted to social media.” This shows that lots of students don’t use their phones wisely. In addition, they look at someone’s social media and arrange fights. Furthermore, there was another quote from the article written by Boccella Kathy. It says:” cell phones played a critical role in the May 3 brawl at Cheltenham High school that produced seven injuries, four arrests and days of heated news Goverge. According to prosecution at a family court hearing for three of the students taken into custody, the fight was planned and recorded on cell phones.” This demonstrates that cell phones were the main role in that scene. In the same way, some High Schoolers were injured bu them. They texted each other and planned fights on their phones. Eventually, the text messages were recorded on their phones. If the schools started to ban cell phones, then it will cause fewer injuries. In addition, there will be less cyberbullying happen. It will make citizens safer.

Cell phones should be banned because they contribute to student’s health negatively. This affects students, school, and even parents. Students will be healthier, and the environment around the schools will be better, as well as parents won’t have to worry about the health problem causing by cell phones. On the other hand, there is an article written by bu Robert, Smol. It says:” It was that his technological cancer on student learning in Ontario would have to be eliminated before, yet another cohort is allowed to sacrifice its precious and valuable classroom learning time to Snapchat, play graphically violent or pornographic games. Violent or pornographic games can easily control their minds. Nevertheless, a distraction from class also influences a student’s health. It is becuase they keep concentrate on their cell phones. They might even do something in real life that is played in games. Then it causes problems, such as arrests and maybe death. These games are harming students. In the same way, an article was written by Sun also said something. It says:” Besides teacher spending less time teaching in classrooms, one of the biggest problems in students learning – and the overall mental health of children is the overarching addiction to cell phones.” This demonstrates students can get mental health issues. the main reason was cell phones. They concentrate on other things on their cell phones such as games. This concentration is basically harming student’s mental health. The main reason was cell phones. It made students concentrate on bad games or social media. It can easily cause mental health problems negatively. Nevertheless, mental health is the same as making a student’s health more unhealthier. This mentions schools should ban cell phones immediately.

Opponents will argue that cell phones are a tool for students learning. Actually, there are hundreds of learning apps. Students can easily go on an app and learn or understand a topic. There are also videos on cell phones that might help. Aaron Chua had said:” Cell phones are remarkable devices that out the world in the palm of your hand, so its no wonder they also function as teaching tools, whether you need to look up a word you’re never heard before or do some quick research on a puzzling subject, cell phones can help.” This mentions that cell phones can research and check about a subject that is puzzling. It says it is a remarkable device.  In addition, it is also convenient to take. Cell phones are not really heavy, and the size is just right for you to put in your pocket. However, many articles say it is a learning tool, students don’t use it for learning. They usually use it for gaming for chatting, they use it for cyberbullying. On the other hand, there are lots of articles about this. This demonstrates that even though cell phone s are for learning tools, but there are more reasons that say cell phones are bad.

Because of these reasons, schools should ban cell phones immediately. The main 2 reasons are cyberbullying, and it is unhealthy. However, they also show that cell phones are a learning tool. Despite this, students don’t use this for learning purposes.

 

 

Magic with Math Blog post

This is an aggro challenger deck. For me, this deck was awesome, this deck is one color deck. The color is red,  I won lots of rounds with others. However, there are some losses. The only thing that is bad about aggro is that there are no expensive and strong cards. There is less enchantment. The only thing good about this deck is that there are lots of spells.

Whenever I was drafting, it went good, there are lots of good cards, compare to the deck, there are lots of expensive but really good cards. On the other hand, there are also lots of enchantment.  The only thing that was bad is that I can’t find any flying cards. So when we play each other I can’t win him/her. My record is 3 wins and 1 loss.  I change some when I lose my game. When I see carefully at my sideboard. There were some spells and flying creatures. So I change some decks with a deck that is expensive but bad ones.

I like most of the card games, and the good thing about magic cards is that we can challenge ourselves, and also we can play each other. In addition, those cards are cool!  The hard thing about magic is drafting. We need to think about it really hard. About the color, flying and spells, and make equally. Make it equally means, you need to make those two-color decks be equal. The goal for my next draft is to make flying and not flying creatures equally.

Percy Jackson Responce

Percy has trouble to manage his emotions. There are many ways to manage it. Also, why positive relationships are important to Percy?

Percy can’t manage emotions for many reasons, such as the fight with Nancy Bobofit, who is the bully at Yancy Academy. On the other hand, there are many styles to manage his emotions simply. To begin with, in Percy Jackson Lightning thief page 5 it says:” Will you shut up!?!?!?’– it came out louder than I meant.” Percy found Nancy snickered something about the naked guy in the museum, where Yancy Academy went for a trip. Therefore, Percy can’t control his emotions. He just shouts at Nancy to be quiet. Furthermore, Percy generally disgusts Nancy. To manage his emotions, there is away. An article was written in the “Skills you Need-Helping You Develop Life Skills” website written in 2019 says:” you can distract yourself to manage your emotions. Besides, in book page 33 it says:” I gritted my teeth.” It records that he hates Gabe. Percy again can’t manage his emotions. He is mad at Gabe. In the article, it gives advice to Percy. For instance, on page 18 it says:” Be kind to others”. This advice can easily manage his emotions. Besides, on page 39 it says:” I felt angry at my father.” The way to manage is to don’t give negative thinking. Article from page 17 it says:” I  find yourself having negative thoughts, then challenge them by looking for evidence against them.” this meant Percy should not give a negative thought. He might kind to Nancy, Family, and maybe gods. It encourages Percy to prevent worrying about yourself.

A positive relationship is a serious essential thing to Percy. But why is that? As an example, in Percy Jackson page17 it says:” I was homesick. I wanted to be with my mom in our little apartment on the Upper East Slide.” To summarize this, it means that it makes healthier when there is mom besides Percy. Research from the article written in the University of Minnesota indicates that:” Strong relationship contributes to health at any age.” In addition to, positive relationship there is another example from the book. On page 34 it says:” I started to be chocking up, thinking about Grover and Mr. Brunner. Even Nancy Bobofit suddenly didn’t seem so bad.” Therefore, it informs me that the Positive relationship deals with stress. In the meantime, research from the University of Minnesota relates:” The support offered by a caring friend can provide a buffer against effects of stress.” Third, on page 32~33 it says:” My mother can make me feel good just by walking into the room.” It reminded me that Percy’s mom makes Percy release stress. As a result, it makes Percy healthier as well as dealing with stress.

Percy can simply maintain his emotions. Also, a positive relationship strongly supports his health and stress.

 

Who is Percy Jackson in Chapter One

Who is Percy Jackson?   What type of person is it?  

The main character which is Percy hates school and some of his classmates. In Percy Jackson the lightning thief” page 2 it says: “I know it sounds like torture “. In this sentence, Percy is going on a trip from his school Yancy Academy. He doesn’t like the trip because he said every Yancy Academy’s trip was horrible all the time He has no friends; he just has Grover which is his only friend. Everyone feels joyful except for him. On the other hand, Percy is friendly to others. Nevertheless, his classmates, for instance, Nacy Bobofit, always bullies him. He is a person that can’t stand bullying. He gets trouble all the time. Even though he tells Mrs.Dodds who is his pre-Algebra teacher about how Nancy bullies him. She doesn’t trust Percy. She thinks Percy is a devil in her class. She even believes the impolite Nancy is the most hard-working students. 

Secondly is on page 9. It says:” I was smad my mind was blank. He didn’t like his school because he and his friend Grover got bullied all the time. He hates bullies, he wants to be a good student. But he can’t, it is just because of Nancy and some of his classmates. In addition, most of the teacher thinks Percy is the one who must have trouble.  Even though the real one is not Percy. The classmates are rude that they don’t say anything after Percy got into trouble. They just giggle around.  

Lastly, on page 8, it says:” Grover and I sat on the edge of the fountain, away from others. “ This connects that the classmates and school, including teachers, are not friendly to Percy. If they are a good friend, they will never stay away from classmate or teachers. Percy, as well as his friend, doesn’t want them to care for them.  Since they care, Percy, they usually bully him. They just make him mad and annoyed. He will be better when he stays alone. 

What Percy says can tell that he really hates his school. 

Spring trip reflection( may 22,23,24)

We went to shi men shan for our spring trip.  I learned a lot of skills on that trip, one of them was building a campfire.  I had a friend in my Chinese class. Larry was one of my friends, but after this trip, I am his best friend. The most challenging part was to trade because many groups have the materials so we can’t trade. The other group doesn’t want it. I enjoyed building a raft because the water was cool and making a boat was awesome. The advice that I need to give to another group is to collaborate and get all of the materials needed. On the other hand, the most important thing is to follow the teacher’s direction.

My cranky contraption


My biggest success for this project was using electronic tools to make the cranky contraption. This was my first time to use electronic tools to design things. My biggest obstacle was to make a hole in popsicle stick. Because when I was making a hole, it always crack the popsicle stick, so it was hard. One thing that I want to change to my cranky contraption is trim the roof top and longer wires, and also small amount of glues.

Ancient Mesopotamia simulation reflection

 

We did a simulation of Ancient Mesopotamia in a humanities class.

We divided into 5 groups. Our simulation was about to trade and make the richest society. We can trade materials with other groups. On the other hand, we have a secret mission. The secret mission was to make a catapult with all material that we trade and have. We also have jobs in each group. Jobs are building an architecture, making laws, making written language, and trade. When we are trading we must use our written language, we can’t talk and use our body. When we built a catapult, society wins.

During the activity, I had a trade job with another society. I used our written language to trade the materials that we don’t have, such as tapes and a plastic spoon. I didn’t use any talking with the other society member. It was a little difficult when we are not talking. However, I easily got the materials from Emily Cai’s group, because they had what we needed, and their group had what our society needed.

As a group, we divided the work easily by Jaslyn. She asked us what our society member liked. Our group member all most got what they wanted, for example, Bryan and Emily oh got the making laws, Judy got the architecture, Jaslyn got the written language, and I got the trade. We were all satisfied with the job we got.

Our biggest accomplishment was communication and collaboration. We communicate and discuss how we are going to do to these jobs. Even though the making laws group members were Emily and Bryan, we worked together to make as many ideas as we can, we collaborated well. So, we can make laws quickly than other society. Also, even though Jaslyn’s job was making written language to trade, our society members helped Jaslyn to gather ideas. Because gathering ideas I can more quickly get in to trade circle.

Our weakest point as a civilization was making laws. We quickly made laws by collaboration but there was a little problem. It was there were so many ideas that are the same. For example, I violence law but Bryan wrote violence already in the sheet of paper. So I need to think another idea but when I got another new idea, I saw Emily already wrote that idea, too. I think we had not enough interesting ideas that are really common.

If I could do this activity again, I would change the making an architecture to making wearing. I think making clothes is more interesting than making architecture. Also maybe give each table fewer materials than this time, because I think it will be challenging and fun.

Indus river valley civilation

In the 6-3 Humanities class, we had studied different civilization including Indus river valley civilization.  Our group had studied Indus river valley civilization for a long time, researching.   Then our group had collaboratively written a script. We had much trouble about that but we, fortunately, had finished the script and finish our project.  We had learned lots of information  about Indus river valley especially about their measurement skills.
