The role of elements and principles in graphic design is to make the composition more engaging and interesting to the audience.

What is this design task all about?

This design task is about creating an educational poster that clearly illustrates a design principle/element to the audience with a short description of the element/principle included.

Why did you design your illustration this way? (show evidence of your sketching, development, peer feedback & refinement)

I designed my poster this way because, during my peer feedback, my partner starred the two designs that they thought I should try to develop more. I chose the broken heart design because they said that it was the easiest to identify my design principle, negative space, whereas the other starred one takes longer to process the use of negative space. My illustration started out as just a grey and white design. But as we moved our designs into affinity, I decided to use a deep blue colour because it’s a strong darker colour, but not as dark as black.
