The found poem was taken from the short novel “The Last Kiss” by Ralph Fletcher. It shows Man versus Man internal conflict between the boy the protagonist and his parents. In the beginning of the story the young boy every night gets good night kisses from both of his parents which was “normal” to him at that time. Then the young boy comes across a situation where his parents started to act weird and no long gave him good night kiss. Then the climax is when he realizes that he is no longer young enough for his parents to give him a good night kiss. Then hopefully he understands that he is now old enough to sleep with out a good night kiss.
