Energy transfer – The conversion of one form of energy into another
Introduction:
We should make a product that shows the energy transfer. The product should be aesthetically appealing, original, consider environmental impact, safe for the user, and needs to have a purpose and a client. Based on these requirements, I decide to make a Solar lamp that absorbs the energy from solar panels and releases the energy by the lamp. This product not only can show the energy transfer but also can harness natural energy.
Problem:
The problem is the process of energy conversion might lose energy and not all the energy gets into the solar panels and it’s hard to transfer the energy to the light.
Success Criteria:
Show energy transfer
Respond to a clear purpose and user
Be original, durable, and safe
Consider the environment
Function
Look good
What problems or needs can you identify that could be addressed with this kind of design?
Energy capture & storage:
The solar lamp is the most commonly used device to collect and release energy. It is used to save power and collect the sun’s energy to convert into electricity.
Education:
Solar lamps are a great educational example. It has a unique structure that uses solar panels to collect power and convert it into electricity.
Practical use:
This is a very practical household item; it can save power.
Production of inspiration/ inspire:
First, I referenced the structure of the solar panels, specifically, how does the solar lamp works.
This source is about how to make an easy solar lamp. I learned the basic Solar lamp structure. This video explains how to make solar lights in great detail, it gives me a basic idea of how to make solar panels.
This video is also about how to make a solar lamp, it’s given me different ideas of making a solar lamp.
Then I found some pictures of how solar lamps look, and one of my favorites is a foldable lamp. This lamp is more portable, and this lamp looks better.
Audience:
This lamp is very safe, so children can use it. Its wires are all on the inside. You can’t see the wires on the outside. The benefits are enhanced aesthetics and improved security.
