Option 2:
Part A:
- When my mentality is thriving in the green zone, I tend to feel relaxed and not anticipated to play another battle in my video game. In this kind of mindset I can do what I need to do and not get distracted by technology. Using technology and getting distracted by technology are different things, for example, I can do research on a computer and text at night on a computer, they are not the same.
- Some tech management strategies that I use for staying in the healthy green zone are: – Only using technology when it is needed, this includes relaxing and connecting with friends at a controlled level. Times where technology is necessary is when I need to do E-learning. -Setting a time when technology can’t be used. For example, it is 9 o’clock and you have to put away or shut down all electronic devices or else there will be consequences. -Setting a timer for a certain amount of time so you’ll be aware of when it is time to take a break because staring at a screen for to long will result in you damaging your eyesight from the blue light being emitted from the screen. Part B:
- You have to be mindful of your time spent on media and games because if there is something you haven’t completed and you open a social media app or a game, you will end up wasting your own time. Be especially mindful that some games and apps are designed to make you addicted so that the creators can make money. If you have Wechat, Fortnite, or any other super popular social media apps and games, be aware that many people use or play these games and apps, you may encounter many friends and family members using these apps. Think of the main purpose of these apps and what they are designed for, not what other people use them for because following others’ decisions might not be the best choice. An example could be when a group of classmate tells you there is a super popular game newly released and you should join them, you join, and play until you can’t stop. The moment you get to the top of the leaderboard, you realize that your grades are at the bottom of the class. If you don’t want this to happen to you, be mindful before you make a decision. Although games and social media can be harmful to your mental health at times when it is not under control, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t play video games or use social media. Social Media can be a way to communicate when everyone is faraway from each other. Games can be a way to relieve stress. Social media and games can be harmful to the your health when you look concentrate at the screen because the blue light and electromagnetic radiation, or when you stay too late looking at your device due the blue light can reduce melatonin production levels in your brain. Melatonin is a chemical you need in order to sleep well.
- Some good tech habits are: -Finish work that is needed to be complete before going to social media or games -When your phone is beeping at night or when you are doing something, turn off the notifications and reply to the beep when you have time. – Put it away from your distance of reach if a device is really distracting you.
- If you are in the yellow or orange zone, you are in the warning or danger zone on the mental health scale. In order to stay mentally and physically healthy, focus on things that are more important than video games and social media, such as family, grades, homework, sports, or a hobby such as playing the piano or flying kites. If you have trouble with handling technology properly you can call an adult to help you manage your time. Video games and social media can be positive in many ways if you know how to use them properly. If you don’t want to spend too much time on something, set a timer or let someone remind you when it is time. Again, if your device is sending notifications when you don’t want it to turn off the notifications. These strategies will help you get back into the healthy state of the green zone because all of these strategies will help you distract yourself from using technology to doing much more useful things in your life. Note: The format of the essay may be unstable; the point by point may be scattered.
