My Cranky Contraption

My biggest obstacle is bending the wires. My biggest success was learning how to fit the drill bits into the drill. A piece of advice I’d give to  future student is to ask Mr.Layman for bendable wires instead of just trying and using up all your strength to bend the hard wires.

The Great Pyramids of Ancient Egypt

This video is about the pyramids of Ancient Egypt and its significance, purpose, and resemblance.

Mesopotamia Simulation Reflection-Day One

In day one simulation of Mesopotamia, we had to develop a civilization and a top- secret invention that could conquer all of the other countries. To do this, we had to collect materials and trade with each other. There were also cultural tasks to be completed. In my group, I took up the job as the person that invents the written language and the person that trades with other groups. Arthur and Kiss worked on architecture, Eugene worked on Law, Emily Barber drew pictures of the materials we needed in order to make the top-secret invention. Our biggest accomplishments as a civilization is bargaining for two forks at a low price and our architectural structures. Our biggest weakness is that we don’t have a lot of materials surplus and we have very little materials. If I could do this again, I would change the fact that we were arguing a lot and not working cooperatively.

Reflection on One Day

This is an argument that I wrote for my English tutoring class. It features the reason of Ancient Egypt’s downfall.

Early Humans & Us

This is my project for the diet between early humans and modern humans. We had to try to explain how diet has evolved through millennia and the differences between early and modern humans.

Insulator Cup Design & Penguin Dwelling

In Engineering, we were given a design challenge of creating a cup insulator. It has to be removable, pretty, keep the beverage hot, and people can easily drink from the cup. I don’t have anything to be proud of because I think we could’ve did a better job. If I can do a third prototype, I would choose materials that are thinner and can better prevent heat loss.  For me, the hardest part of this Cup Insulator Design Challenge was trying to make the cup insulator wrap around the cup since the materials we chose were so stiff.

This is our storyboard for the Cup Insulator Project and the Penguin Dwelling Project. During this task, I learned how to write procedures and record and measure data. I’m not proud of our storyboard because it is very messy and does a poor job of explaining each project thoroughly. If we could do a second storyboard, I would definitely include more information about each project and organize it better.

In Science, we were given the task of making a home for the penguins. It had to be a conductor and keep the penguins cool.  In this project, I learned how to hot glue foil and mylar together. One thing that I’m proud of is that we managed to reduce the transmission of heat. One thing that was hard for me was buying materials since we had a set amount of money and the materials were really expensive.

I Am From My Piano and Dusty Old Books

In humanities, we each wrote a “Where I’m From” poem. The poem is about what things are important to you and things your family says.
