Martin’s Experience with the Revolution

Martin is an African-American freedman living through the American revolution. He and his family experience racial discrimination, but he pushes on to keep his family fed. Martin has a very strong connection with his mother, and because of this, he volunteers to participate in the revolutionary war to clear ways for future black people and give them an equal chance- an equal chance to thrive the past generations did not receive.

Martin’s number 1 goal from this revolution was to create change in the ways black people were treated, but although promised, nothing had changed in the ways people treated African Americans. Slave owners were not told off or punished, and jobs and higher education were always reserved for white men. Inequality, racism, and discrimination towards races other than whites were not removed from the nation.
