Joy Cowley is a writer. Her ideas come from her young friends. She gets her ideas in her friends letter. After the first draft, she reads two or three times. She reads the words to check. The second draft of the story is left for two or three days. Then she looks again. She sees more mistakes. She likes writing. Because she writes the story a third and perhaps a fourth time. When she finishes the story, she sends it to a publisher. When the illustrations are ready, her publisher prints the book.
