Argumentative essay
Deeply concerned that more and more unhealthy food became people’s first choice due to its convenience and cheapness. However, the number of obese children has increased in the past few years. At the same time “whether the government should be responsible for the massive number of childhood obesity” became a popular debate topic among citizens. Knowing that obesity is not only a threat to children’s health but also a sign of poverty, the government has the resource and is capable to help the obsessed population. Thus, childhood obesity should be the government’s responsibility.
First of all, childhood obesity can be an extreme threat to children’s health, children are the future of our society, if they are not healthy then our society would be affected too. Study shows that starting from 2016, more than 650000 people with cancer got cancer from obesity. This shows that if the obesity rate continues to grow like it already is then our society would be full of weak people that may not be able to hole up our society in the future. Additionally, according to NCBI.gov “Obesity can be a cause for diabetes, arterial hypertension and coronary artery.” Childhood obesity has become a major health concern, for parents and physicians all around the world. Childhood obesity is associated with increased risk for other diseases not only during youth but later in life. If the government wishes its citizens can country to stay healthy in the future, then the government is highly encouraged to do something about the current issue.
Secondly, a massive number of obesities can be a sign of poverty. According to NCBI.org “childhood obesity is a civilization disease and the proportion of people suffering from it continues to grow, especially in developing countries.” Also, according to scholars.org “Being overweight in young adulthood is associated with unemployment, limited education attainment and lower levels of income.” It is clear that obesity is closely associated with poverty. When a family is poor, they often use more money of shelters and other things that food. Since affordable and convenient food is often form restaurants such as KFCs and Mcdonalds. Often times, long term of eating junk food may lead to obesity.
Some may say what the children eat is the parent’s responsibility. However, some families might not have the resource to afford healthy food. Therefore, the government is responsible and capable of helping the low-income population with being able to afford healthy food. Data shows that after Mexico established “sugar tax” the number of obese people decreased drastically. This means that if the government taken action, there will eventually be a result, what really matters is whether the government I willing to help or not. Another example is in 2010, the government of the USA launched the “let’s move” campaign to solve the childhood obesity epidemic within a generation. Different organizations were responsible for different areas of the plan. Receiving support from the GOs not only makes things easier but also motivates the citizens.
Aware that the childhood obesity issue has been going on for decades and it had only gotten worse. It is time for the government to make a difference. From areas such as children obesity being a threat to children’s future health, obesity being a sign of poverty and the government having the resource to help, it is obvious that in order to reduce the current issue the government will need to step in and help.
Percy Final
PERCY FINAL
“Am I a troubled kid?” Yes Percy, you are indeed. Hurting other students, murdering teachers… Can this kid EVER change? The answer is yes. Percy himself is not a bad kid, but he just seems to be doing the wrong thing at the wrong time. Percy can definitely live a finer life by making better choices such as being more open-minded about people around him and learning how to manage his anger.
If you want to be a successful middle schooler, how can you not be open minded towards things around you? “‘Okay’ I said glumly. ‘So, like, if I want to come visit your mansion.’” This is what Percy said when Grover offers him his “Summer Address” which is camp half-blood. This is also the first thing he said right after Grover handing the address over to him. This response is so narrow-minded that he cannot think of anything else about the summer address than a big mansion his friend might own. “I’d never consider that his family might be as rich as the others at Yancy.” This is Percy’s thought after realizing that Grover might have a summer house. I understand that Percy himself does not live in a wealthy family, but this does not mean that he should criticize people around him by how rich they are. Once again, from Percy’s simple and shallow thoughts we can conclude that Percy is not open minded enough to accept the advantages of others that he does not have. Maybe Percy should try changing himself first than forcing others to be the way he wants them to be.
I’d count managing his anger as one of Percy’s largest weaknesses too. Percy, as one of the most troublesome kid in Yancy academy doesn’t get in trouble for absolutely no reason. “I’m going to kill her…” This is what Percy said when they were having the fieldtrip in a museum. Nancy, Percy’s classmate seems to be getting on Percy’s nerve, her childish behavior seems to irritate Percy a lot. I admit, getting mad at someone is not a weird thing to do, but in this case, but none of those things is worth Percy to say such harsh words to his classmate. “I started feeling cranky and irritable most of the time. My grades slipped from Ds to Fs. I got into more fights with Nancy Bobofit and her friends. I was sent out into the hallway in almost every class.” According to healthline.com the article Do I Have Anger Issues?. Your behavior shows whether you have anger management problems or not. These odd behaviors include getting mad very often, and anger impacting your daily lives and people around you. But keep in mind that these may become long-term problems if you don’t treat them seriously. For example, you can recognize the anger before it goes out of control and give yourself a little space; you can also stay away from what you believe caused your anger and give other people a little space. The way/ method you use to control your anger does not matter, what really is important is to know clearly how to manage YOUR emotions, make the right choice, so both people around and you can live a healthy life. Percy, being a middle schooler who has feelings that are sometimes hard to manage, Percy should consider these advices, and reflect on himself and his behavior.
“I wondered, if Poseidon were watching, would he approve my choice?” Through exciting adventures with his friends Grover and Annabeth, Percy starts to change too. From a selfish and bad kid, he is now a selfless kid that would care for everyone around him. He may not realize these changing himself, but people around him can see every single little change in him. Percy now already realize how important it is to manage his anger and be open-minded towards everybody. Now and later on, Percy’s life can be less miserable for himself and people around him. In the future, as long as he keep up the good work, he is no longer a troubled kid.

Claim Evidence Reasoning
Percy Jackson should learn to manage his ADHD, and learn how to use it as his advantage. In Percy Jackson the teacher said to Percy Jackson about his ADHD “And the ADHD– “you’re impulsive, can’t sit still in the classroom. ” Percy himself in the book also talked about some problems ADHD brings him in his daily lives” Another thing about ADHD. Deadlines are just not real to me until I am staring one in my face.” In one of the articles featuring ADHD stated that” You focus on your strengths. With weaknesses, you find ways to manage.” Even Percy himself admit the fact that ADHD gets him wandering around sometimes and losing focus. So he should try to find not only the disadvantages but some other positive things ADHD brings him. Like in the article featuring ADHD says, you should focus on your strengths, and towards weaknesses, you should just find ways to overcome them.
