Percy Jackson is a person who always got in trouble at school and a person that cared a lot about his friends. In the first chapter of “The Lightning Thief” on page 2 Percy says, “At least, I hoped that I wouldn’t get in trouble.” That shows that Percy hopes that he doesn’t cause anything bad to happen. If he was a person who rarely ever made teachers angry, he wouldn’t be saying that. Since he is saying that it gives the idea that he always gets in trouble. On page 3 of the book, Percy states “The headmaster had threatened me with death by in-school suspension if anything, bad, embarrassing, or even mildly entertaining happened on this trip.” It gives the impression that Percy must’ve made many bad and silly choices, and he probably is known causing mischief otherwise the headmaster would not have put him on probation. “I started to get up, but Grover pulled me back to my seat. ‘You’re already on probation,’ he reminded me.” (Riordan, page 3). Grover says that when Percy got mad at Nancy Bobofit for throwing sandwich pieces into Grover’s hair. It shows Percy really does care about his friend and doesn’t want him to get bullied or teased by others. Acknowledging the fact that Percy is on probation, it suggests that he must’ve done something bad to deserve probation from the headmaster. Even though Percy Jackson is very troublesome, he is still a very compassionate person.
