CNY Dumpling Door ft. Leopold the Mouse

My biggest obstacle for the door design project with Grace was deciding how to fill in the gap at the side of the door since Mr. B’s door is wider than the paper was. We had to stick extra paper in order to fill in the gap of the door. It doesn’t look as put together as it would’ve if we only had to use one sheet of paper.
One piece of advice I would give to a future student doing this project is to manage your time well. Since you are doing it in partners maybe you can split the things you need to get done, in order to have more time to assemble everything and make it look as good as possible. This worked out pretty well for Grace and I even though we did struggle with getting everything on the door in time, we split the jobs between sticking on the extra sheet of paper, tracing and cutting the dumplings, writing the words, and drawing and cutting out Leopold the Mouse.
Overall I think this project was successful because we got everything done and it does look kind of pleasing but I would have liked to make the dumpling details more obvious s they look more like dumplings.

Feedback from our client/teacher Mr. B:
Mr. B had requested that we put 88 dumplings on the door since 8 is a lucky number in the Chinese culture. We put exactly 88 dumplings on the door and Mr. B was happy with that. Overall Mr. B liked the door decorations although there were a few uneven bits on the cutting of the window, and the edges.

“The reason I moved to China was dumplings and now there are dumplings on my door.” -Mr. B, 2020
