I think getting to work with the Masaka Cycling Club is a really unique experience that I am looking forward to. It’ll provide us with an opportunity to apply our learning into real life situations, and more importantly be able to help and support other people around the world. After speaking to Ross, we learnt that MCC isn’t purely focused on cycling, they utilize cycling because it is a skill the Ugandans have, but the club expands out to issues like inequality (gender or race) and poverty, and I think getting the chance to work alongside the club will be a truly eye-opening experience. This makes me very excited to work with the MCC because not only would I be helping the MCC, I’ll also be able to learn new skills that I can take on with me into the future. After hearing the student presentations, it made this idea of being able to make a difference more of a reality. Getting to apply our learning to a real-life context is such an exciting step but also very nerve wrecking because what we do will affect real people, and the outcomes are in our control. But, overall, I am super excited for this experience!
