What new skills did you learn?

In the fall mentor trip, I learned how to make fresh water out of salty or dirty water. I also learned how to make fire, and create different things out of bamboo. I also learned how to get along with my tribemates because we all had different ideas, but our leader quieted us and let us share our idea one by one, then we added all our ideas together to build our civilization.

What did you learn about other classmates?

I learned that my classmates seem really quiet and weak in front of teachers, and most of the quiet ones are really loud and outgoing while we were building and coming up with ideas. Also, I found out that everyone has one thing that they are really good at.

What was the most challenging part of the trip?

The most challenging part of the trip was to try and not care when i get dirty. I don’t like getting dirty, but the trip changed me and now i don’t really care if i get dirty or not.

What did you enjoy most about the trip?

The part i liked the most about the trip was at night. At night theres a gentle breeze and the tempature is low. It feels really comfortable and we have a certain amount of time to socalize with our classmates, It feels really nice to be able to laugh and watch other people have fun because i always find it fun to see other people have fun. The party at the last night. It was really fun watching people have fun, dancing and singing. The tempature was a little bit lower than warm, and thats where i like it. There was also a gentle breeze and I really like music, so that might be part of the reason that I really liked that thirty minutes.

What advice would you give to the next group?

Well, I would tell them to cherish the time that they are in camp. I felt really sad after the dance party after the last night because I really regretting not cherishing the time that i was in camp.
