Set 2

The inspiration for my set 2 photos are from Andrew Prokos:

  • black and white
  • buildings
  • sharp angles
  • leading lines
  • shapes
  • repetition

Andrew Prokos used shapes and lines in his photographs to bring out a strong defined piece of focus. There is also repetition that is also used and more of his black-and-white works are of buildings that show the concept of his style. Some of his work also uses the idea of empty space which is what I will try and have in my set of photos. Prokos’ style has been my inspiration to my set of photos as it gives me a feeling of satisfaction when I see his work and the details inside due to the buildings are also something I find intriguing.

The photo I have chosen from Andrew Prokos is this:

I think that the black and white really brings out the tone and shadows in this photo and there is the right use of negative space making the photo look as if it was a painting. there are also subjects/people walking showing the movement of the streets below which I personally really like. I would say that Prokos’ style of abstraction is to bring out the tones and shapes through the use of building/architecture.

Final set:

My three photographs for this set connect with the theme I wanted to show which was repetition and the use of shapes and lines after being inspired from Andrew Prokos. Out of all the images I took the final three I believe shows and gives the best examples of what I wanted to communicate. First of all, they all have some type of repetition in lines or shapes, and the black-and-white effect brings out the shadows and contrasts more which helps with defining the lines and shapes. This refers back to Prokos’ work, the low-angled shot of buildings along with the negative space from the second photo is also something I took from Prokos’ work.
