G9 Science Project-Reflect and Share

How successful I was:

  • Completed the project on time
  • The water fountain works well and is aesthetically pleasing
  • No signs of breakthroughs or product malfunctioning throughout many tests/uses

Reflections:

  • Changing the plastic water bottle to a smaller size was one of the best decisions I made for this project, as first, using the full-size one was just not working and the water would not go up because of the pressure. But once I made the smaller size one, and added a section where it separated the bottle so water would get to the holes faster, it made it so much more efficient and less time-consuming.
  • Changing the voltage of the batteries used, made the flow of the water much more efficient and constant.
  • Putting a section in-between the bottle was a smart move that saved a lot go time and water used in the final product as it made it faster for the water to rise up to the top.
  • The base container of the fountain first was leaking at the bottom so I decided to hot glue the bottom part to prevent it from leaking which helped a lot.
  • Putting in the rocks and plants for decoration a the end just made the whole project feel completed and finalized
  • The decision of drilling four outputs for the water to go through instead of eight was also a smart idea that let the flow of the water come out smoothly and consistently. As well as having them equally spaced and on the same line so the water can be dispersed evenly.

Impact of the product on the environment and potential client:

  • My product doesn’t necessarily have an impact on the environment, but there are changes that can be made to make the final product more environmentally friendly, by changing the chemical energy/batteries to a solar energy-powered water fountain.
  • A mini water fountain can be used as a small decoration anywhere, even in bedrooms, living rooms, or outdoor spaces.
