Set 1

the artist I have chosen for my inspiration is Ernst Haa as his photos show movement using long shutter speeds. His photos also has colour that makes the images pop. he also uses lighting really well in the photos as it is light in the middle and the borders are darker, giving a sense of surrealism. As well as most of his photos having more of a dark mood with a darker, more cold vibe to it.

  • long shutter speed
  • light spot and dark spot
  • focuses on a subject/place

I particularly like this photo because of the pop of colour in the midst of the moving cars due to the long shutter speed as well as the sharpness of the arrows on the floor in contrast to the blur of the cars. I also really like the coolness of the photo with the colours, even though the color of the cars is warm there is still coolness to the photo. I think the tone is really important to this photo if it were in a warmer tone it wouldn’t give the same effect as it does. The abstract in this photo is shown where the blur is as it does not follow straight photography. The way that Ernst Haas uses pops of colour in his photographs is something I’m really interested in doing in my set as well as having a bit of blur and/or signs of movement as if my photos are living.

Final set:

The third photo is my favorite out of the set because I think not only does it follow my inspiration from Ernst Haas from the blur of motion in the background but also the pop of colour on the focused object in this case, the car. Out of the set, I have consistently shown the pop of blue in every photo from the first having a small appearance of blue then slowly having more of the photo covered in blue. I also really like the contrast and shadow in the photo which I think gives a certain degree of sharpness to it. the colors in the photo give a cool colour vibe similar to Haas. I think viewers would be able to point out the consistent appearance of blue through the set.
