In this unit of humanities, we learned how to analyze the theme, central idea, and issues in this book by taking notes and expanding the information we have to a new level. I’ve chosen the book TRAPPED by Marc Aronson. It is a true story about how the world rescued 33 miners being trapped 2000ft underground in the Chilean desert after The San Jose Mine collapsed on 2010/8/5. The story took the role of multiple perspectives on this event. The rescuers, Miners, family, and the news media. The world, the rescuers, and their families are all supporting the challenges that the miners face underground isolated. Throughout the story, we will learn the process of rescuing the trapped miners and the mental battle of different perspectives.
Enjoy the notes that I TOOK!!!!!
This type of note is what I have most widespread, I have a couple of pages of these notes. I jot down points that are interesting and I try to expand my thinking further in relation to the theme, issue, and central idea of the story. Such as using yellow to highlight the theme, green issue, and pink central idea. I found out that the motif always embedded in most of a sentence in this book is ‘Hope‘. The Hope that they believe to live and survive
This is the mind map that I created. It shows big ideas that occurred as I was reading through the story. Also, in the mind map, I included connections of other events that are similar to this one, the airplane crash that happened in chlie.
This is where I took the statement which I feel stands out to me so I jot it down and expand thinking about little pieces of the text
This is where I analyzed the issue in the book. Expanding and thinking deeply about what does that means and making connections to different even.
