“ I felt angry at my father. Maybe it was stupid, but I resented him for going on that ocean voyage, for not having the guts to marry my mom. He’d left us, and now we were stuck with Smelly Gabe.

“Because I’m not normal,” I said.

You say that as if it’s a bad thing, Percy. But you don’t realize how important you are. I thought Yancey Academy would be far enough away. I thought you’d finally be safe.”  (Chapter.3 page.29)

Percy is angry about his father in this chapter, because he think his father have know him as a baby, in-fact his father know Percy’s mom was expecting a baby, but he never saw Percy. He had to leave before Percy were born.

“I had always assumed he knew me as a baby. My mom had never said it outright, but still, I’d felt it must be true. Now, to be told that he’d never even seen me.”

In the next page Percy’s mom have told him, his father want him to go to a summer camp that he will be safe there. Percy think, why his father—-who have not even seeing him—-talk to his mom about a summer camp? At this point Percy was even angry about her mom, if the camp was so important, why hadn’t she ever mentioned it before? Percy think his mother want to send himself away, he didn’t know why…because he was no a normal person???

Percy’s mother was sad to see, Percy was angry bout his father, summer camp and herself. She doesn’t mean she want to sent Percy away just for he is a half blood, it because of safety. Percy’s emotion have effect his mom.

In our topic 2 article 1 “Recognizing and Managing Emotions” stopping before you make a decide, to give yourself a chance to think. Maybe Percy need to think before he talk, in this chapter he was really unhappy so what he do might effect other people. because when people are angry they might do things they don’t mean to do, even hating others feeling.
