2023 English independent reading review

So far into 2023, I have read two novels, one fictional and one non-fiction, which is Outliers and Call of The Wild( the book I am currently reading). Personally, Outliers have impacted me a lot in the ways I think. It has helped me reflect on what is important to the success and how to accomplish them, and the reasons behind this. For example, I lesson I learned that not everyone who practiced for 10000 hours could be a master violinist, but every master violinist has practiced for more than 10000 hours. On the other hand, Call of the wild didn’t teach me a lot of life lessons, but the book helped inspire more ways of writing. Not just unpresented and fascinating vocabularies, I learned deeper about the interesting use of short sentences, conjuring sentences, and third-person descriptive. Overall, I have been slow in reading because of two reasons. First of all, the books I have been reading over the year are all quite challenging. Taking 3-5 minutes a page could be regular. Equalling, are the difficulties of the vocabulary. Second of all, which is a problem I should correct as soon as possible, I don’t finish a book. I didn’t finish Messey, nor did I finish The Spy. I might stop for 2-3 days because of exams. All in All, in a simple way, I should try harder.

A rubber band car works by converting potential energy stored in the stretched rubber band into kinetic energy of the car’s movement. When the rubber band is pushed, it gains potential power, stored as elastic potential energy. When the rubber band is released, it contracts, and the potential energy is converted into kinetic energy, causing the car to move forward.

The transfer of energy in a rubber band car can be explained through the principle of conservation of energy. According to this principle, energy cannot be created or destroyed but can be converted from one form to another. In the case of a rubber band car, the potential energy stored in the stretched rubber band is converted into kinetic energy as the rubber band contracts, and the vehicle moves forward.

Initially, the rubber band car is at rest, and all its energy is in the form of potential energy stored in the stretched rubber band. As the rubber band is released, the potential energy is converted into kinetic energy, which causes the car to move forward. The vehicle’s kinetic energy depends on its mass and the speed at which it moves.

After the last change, the rubber band car is working perfectly fine(mostly). What we thought was interesting was that we could change our car’s engine level(how many rubber bands a time). However, there are still parts we can improve on, such as the decoration and the wheels(they move wobbly )

It is perfect for the environment as it causes no environmental damage, is purely green energy, and is reusable(it doesn’t need a battery.) The best audience is students who have just started learning about energy because this is a fun/exciting, and very visual toy that can show the convention of energy.

Improvisation

The big thing I learned from the improvising unit was to try my best every time. Before, I used to only do something when I think I have a big chance, almost sure that I can get it. I used to avoid answering questions I’m not sure of, getting away from tennis matches even when I am better than the opponent. now after the improvising unit, I gained more confidence in myself. Now even if not getting what i want is the bigger chance i would still give it a try because now i know even if i fail nobody is going to laugh at me or make fun of me. And this huge improvement in my attitude is going to stay with me for the rest of my life.

I want to work on being a risk taker. Somethings I am scared and unconfident when standing up for something because I don’t know if I am doing the right thing. It is not hard for me to do a speech or act in front of an audience, but I need to confirm a lot of times with other people every time if I was doing the right thing. This improvising unit is an excellent chance for me to improve on being a risk taker.
