A Love Story, a One Day Miracle…

Fate. Destiny. A captivating love story. A remarkable read for me. An eternal recollection for all…

“When I saw you I fell in love, and you smiled because you knew.”

-William Shakespeare

The video below is my book talk about the book, “The Sun is Also a Star” by Nicola Yoon. This book is captivating, it drew me immediately after I started reading, and I particularly liked how all the characters are connected throughout the story. A love story is not only what this book delivers, but a series of contemporary issues were brought up, such as racism, classism, illegal immigrants, and deportation. This book depicts a story of a romantic and charming Korean boy – Daniel, and a practical and ambitious Jamaican girl – Natasha falling in love with each other through a one-day miracle. The theme that seems to be coming out over and over again is love, fate, connection, and racism. The author of this book, Nicola Yoon, believes that fate and destiny can often lead one to fall in love with someone instantly and fall in love with someone unexpected.

Overall, I enjoyed going through this book myself and my book club members. I will rate it a 4 out of 5 since it’s meticulously well-crafted and exciting. However, a sudden twist in the plot and some inappropriate language throughout the book might make me contemplate recommending it. But I would still recommend it to you guys and hope you can take a look at this breathtaking book! <3
