This is a journal of Férnnan González who begins as an officer working for Fulgencio Batista, Cuba’s president at that time. In the end, he ended up leaving and started supporting the rebels led by Fidel Castro. This journal was set the time from 1956 to 1959. Férnnan’s perspective of the revolution changed throughout the story as he witnessed the rise and fall of Batista. He started with no doubt about his opinions but slowly realized the problem and started leaning towards the opposite side of his original thoughts. More events happened after 1959 in our revolution, but I chose to not write about them and only write about the revolution itself in more detail. There were a few continuities and changes in our revolution. In the beginning, Cuba was in a good relationship with the US and the US would help Cuba when help is needed. But the relationship between Cuba and the US worsened over time. After Cuba and the US’s relationship broke, Cuba ended up bonding with China and the USSR. Also, Cuba was originally ruled by dictators but then turned into a communist country. After Castro successfully overtake Cuba and became the president, there were still many rebels trying to attack him; just like how he was trying to attack Batista. But the rebels never succeeded in attacking Castro after trying 638 times. Overall, the Cuban revolution was interesting. Even though it was short and simple, I still found it important and fun to learn about. There would be amazing events that you would never think of happening.
