What is the purpose of your toy, how does it function, and who is your user?
- The toy I am making is a candy dispenser. There will be an opening at the top where candy can be put in and some sort of button or controller at the side to control the gates at the bottom. Once the gate opens, the candy will slide down from a spiral slide and show up at the bottom. This is mainly designed for kids who like to eat candy and like entertainment before eating.
What is the environmental impact of your product, and is it durable and safe?
- It is planned to make the candy dispenser with plastic which is not environmentally friendly but the best material for storing food and making toys. With hard plastic, the toy will be durable but not as safe because it might hurt kids if broken and small pieces might be eaten by babies if broken.
What precedents inspired you? What did you take away from them, and how did it inform your choices?
- I liked playing with candy dispensers when young, but they were always not as fun because kids don’t see the candxy falling down and getting to the bottom. I took the idea of a candy dispenser and converted it, so it was more fun to play with.
What are you making your product original and/or using creativity?
- I decided to make the candy dispenser transparent so that while the kids play, it adds interest in watching the candy come down. The other idea is the button on the side that controls the gate. Usually, kids just have to press the button to ensure the candy comes down; I have made it more fun. There will be a controller at the side where kids can control how many sweets they want and get them for themselves instead of just pressing a button and getting candy.
