The Borden Murders by Sara Miller is about a double murder in the late 18th century. Set in Fall River, Massachusetts, the story is told from a third-person perspective and is based around the investigation and trial after the murder of the Borden parents. While following the story of the murder, you learn about the legal process and the mistakes that were made by the law while practicing it in this event. The book also includes little factoids in the middle of chapters, giving you further information about the setting and other things. However, this book is quite long, and may be challenging for some readers.
I found this book slightly boring and tedious, and I recommend it only to those with a large amount of patience.
The first central idea I found in the book is about how different people will have differing opinions and ideas.
As I read further, I found a theme that constantly popped up throughout the book, about rumors. This closely relates to real life as well, whenever anything major happens, rumors often spread. You can see evidence of this here:
A place that i went outside my comfort zone for was my connections page. I am not usually a visual thinker, most of the time I take notes in very linear forms, as you can see above. Usually, drawing maps and webs and other things similar to those to take notes is quite challenging for me, but I did try it out.
Thank you for reading all of this post. If you are interested in books like these that are less tedious to read, I would recommend Stephen King as an author.
Thank You!
