CRITERIA: Make a device, or gizmo capable of demonstrating your knowledge about energy transfer.
FIRST STEPS: To make an easy-to-make gadget or item was my first idea. Things that came to mind were:
- Working Windmill model
- Air blower made out of fish cans
- Portable stove that runs on air (canceled, too hard)
At the end of the first week, I decided to build the Air blower, using cardboard and hot glue instead of tin, soldering and fish cans to make it.

This is the Final product of what I had made in the 2 weeks’ time.
WHAT IS THE ENERGY TRANSFER?:
How this device works is that it blows/sucks air by the push of a button. It can be set on a table or held. The button is connected to a 9V that is connected into the inserted DC motor. As you press the button, The mechanical/electrical energy from the 9V powers the DC motor, which spins the fan attached to it to create a sort of Wind/kinetic/rotational energy combination.
CONSTRAINTS, PROS AND CONS:
Some time constraints:
- Was planning to make a prototype so I could sort things out (prototype ended up being my main project)
- Wanted to replace fan as it was too small and could barely work (would take too much time)
- The whole design overall of my project (It does not look very appealing, rather primitive or “hobo”)
Pros: Was easy to make, materials were all there
Cons: It barely worked due to me attaching the wrong kind of fan meaning it barely sucked in dust and other fine particulates. It could not be rectified as it was too late.
WHAT I DID WELL IN MY OPINION:
I think overall the simplicity and the re-configuration was what I was best at. If i made a mistake, I was quick to rectify it (optimize the sucking airflow) as I was swift in this part.
