The Book I am going to be presenting is “Google it”, written by Anna Crowley Redding. The story is about how two college students named Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who both has a passion for computers and technology, created one of the most innovative and successful businesses in the world, “Google”, starting their search engine with only 4GB worth of processing space and a lego-built server, powering through challenges such as financial struggle, advertisement, Y2k bug, the Chinese Government firewall and so much more. Google evolved from a college assignment into a revolutionary, innovative, multi-billion company. Whilst reading the story, we also experience the hardship of running a company alongside Larry and Sergey, and throughout this read, we discover the importance of not giving up and always chasing after your dreams.
Down here, are my pages of notes that show my thinking about this book, enjoy!
This page was created when I first started to read this book. I am at the first few chapters of the book so trying to identify the theme is quite challenging, so I decided to just list out potential themes/topics/big ideas and issues that stood out to me as far as my progress into this book. I then took two chapters from the book and I tried to connect them to the topics I have just listed out by writing two short jots that showed my thinking. Some examples of topics I’ve listed out were “evolution of the company”, “compromises. sacrifices”, “inventions/innovations”.

Here I showed how I implemented my learning of re-reading into my note-taking about my book. On this page, I jotted down my thoughts about the last page of the book, how it states the main theme of the book, “follow your dreams“. Then I used the re-reading technique to reiterate and build on my thoughts

On this page, I did a “cause and effect map” to show my understanding of the book. Essentially, the “cause and effect map” ‘s purpose is to show the pattern I have noticed through this book. The pattern basically is Google faces a problem, Google solves the problem and improves itself, more and more profit is being generated after the improvement, Google becomes more profitable but also it faces new challenges.

On this page, I focused on trying to devour on the topic/claim “Google should be a concern to us”. I collected four pieces of evidence from the book that supports this topic, then I wrote a short paragraph of reasoning for my claim that was based on my evidence

Thank you for taking the time to read my work!

How did my final product solve my initial problem?
