In this project, we were asked to create and design our own Bluetooth speaker based on inspiration and a certain design aesthetic. The inspiration I got was a washing machine that falls under the Mid-century modern.
What am I proud of?
Something that I am proud of is asking for help when I am in need. After asking, it is always much better than thinking by myself and spending a long time just to figure out that one thing. After I asked for help, my design had come out much better than I thought, and also I was able to get another person’s perspective on the speaker.
Challenge that I have face?
I had a layer on top of the layer that I have screwed the speaker to. What I thought was having another layer on top that has legs on the bottom to hold up the speaker. After I have screwed the speaker to my box, I realized that I couldn’t add the front layer because of the screw that I have attached to my box. It was about 3mm and because of that, I couldn’t attach the final layer on top of it. How I completed my speaker was I had added a layer in-between the bottom and the top. I added this layer because then I was able to attach the final layer on top of the bottom one without any other adjustments.
What’s a skill you’ve learned or improved on over the course of this project?
Over the course of this project, there were many new skills I have learned. One of them is knowing that everything does not have to be perfect, it is ok to make mistakes. After the mistake, we are able to learn about it and we will have a better chance to improve. At the start of this project, I believed that even though it is ok to make mistakes, having everything perfect was something good to add on and work on the next step. Since I was believing in this, every time I saw something goes wrong, I would always regret and it made me harder to think deeper and it was hard to move on from that mistake. Now, I am telling myself that making mistakes is better than perfect. Making mistakes can be improved and can be changed where it would have a higher possibility to achieve success.
