Explain how you used design thinking practices to arrive at this iteration of your toy/device.
- The idea about catapults, but instead of using popsicle sticks, we thought about using wood and cardboard, was a great help. Also, combining ideas and components from different resources was a shift. Starting with the idea of a catapult, then adding the concept of using wood instead of small popsicle sticks, and also relating and linking to a historical catapult. This means we need to add wheels to the catapult where it is now moveable.

Develop a detailed plan for creating the preferred design, including success criteria.
- Our success criteria were to be able to move like the historical catapult but also could shoot at a far distance. Also, we wrote about using time wisely and being open-minded toward each other’s ideas. Our steps/plan for creating the preferred design was, at first, to sketch out a blueprint of how our final design might look. This step includes having a precise measurement and a list of materials we will use for this project. After finishing all the planning and gathering materials, we added and glued them together. In this step, we watched a tutorial from a YouTube video. We made a small catapult using popsicle sticks to ensure everything was working, but we heard we needed to change something and not just copy the whole thing from the tutorial. More information about this will be in blog posts 3&4. Returning to the step, we made many changes from that popsicle catapult to this final design. Since our success criteria were able to be moving, we had to add wheels underneath like a vehicle so it could get more stable and move at the same time. My partner and I had much communication and sharing between the steps and process because this was one of our success criteria.
