Candle 1

Reflection:

After the first trial of my candle, some problems occurred. While I was heating up my candle, I put too much water, and when it was boiling, some water got inside the wax beaker and out onto the hot plate. The wax end up having a big clump not melted because I can’t let the water boil longer. The next time I make it, I will use a bigger beaker to put the wax and water, so the melting would be more successful. I also forgot to add essential oil, and I will need to remember next time. When I’m adding flowers, they sink to the bottom, so I will try to make it flout next time. Apart from these technical errors, the recipe is fine, and the candle burns nicely.

Lip balm 3

Feedback from trial 3:

“It is soft, but there’s too much oil. You can add less oil to it, otherwise it is good.”

“There’s too much essential oil and the smell of the essential oil is a bit weird.”

Even though I fixed my problem from last time, I think the smell of this type of essential oil is weird, I might want to try another type of smell. When I was adding essential oil, I put too many drops, I was supposed to add 1 drop of essential oil, but instead I add four, the oil came out four drops at once. I changed a bit of the recipe to get ride of some oil. My goal for next time is to make a better lip balm and might start trying to add color after the next trip.

Ingredients:

-1.7g of shea butter.

-1.5g of coconut oil.

-1.2g of beeswax.

-1 drop of essential oil.

Steps:

  1. Melt the beeswax.
  2. Add shea butter and coconut oil until melted.
  3. Put the melted oil into the containers.
  4. Add one drop of essential oil.
  5. Wait for it to cool.

Lip Balm 2

After My first start I think my recipe is alright, but I need to be more skilled in my process of making. I forgot to add essential oil before I poured the mixture into the tube. I need to be more careful. The recipe will stay the same by the next time I make it.

Feedback I got from the first trial:

People think that there’s a weird smell in the lip balm, it is actually the smell of beeswax because I forgot to put essential oil in it. This will defiantly need improvement in future trials because it would smell and taste very weird if people actually use a lip balm without essential oil on lips.

Ingredients:

-1.9g of shea butter.

-1.7g of coconut oil.

-1.2g of beeswax.

-1 drop of essential oil.

Steps:

  1. Melt the beeswax.
  2. Add shea butter and coconut oil until melted.
  3. Put the melted oil into the containers.
  4. Add one drop of essential oil.
  5. Wait for it to cool.
