Green Selection

Set 1 Green Selection

For the Green Selection, I selected pictures that align with my vision—revealing the beauty of architecture. Most of the photos in the Green Selection consist of a specific type of shape and include a repetition of that shape in the image. The pattern creates a sense of order, making the shape outstanding and eye-catching. Furthermore, all the photos in the Green Selection are well-exposed and in focus, which meets the basic requirements of a “good” photograph.

Yellow Selection

Set 1 Yellow Selection

Based on the Green Selection, I chose photos with simple pictures and prominent themes, which has a lot to do with its composition. The photographs in the Yellow Selection have a visual effect on the audience, either generated by the pattern or the composition. The photos look uncluttered, and the object is in focus, which means the main object can catch the viewers’ eye at first sight. For composition, sometimes the rule of third is used. For instance, in the eighth picture (IMG_4370), the image is divided into three sections horizontally, with the sky taking up the first row and the building taking up the next two rows.

Red Selection

Set 1 Red Selection

Lastly, for the Red Selection, I chose pictures that can best represent my vision while including a pattern or unique composition in the photo. The first image has a foreground of tree branches and a background of the building. The composition in this photo creates a unique visual effect that adds a sense of mystery to the object at the back by covering part of it with a foreground. In addition, the second picture is a typical photo with a pattern. However, the diagonal composition makes the image more interesting than a regular image taken from a front view. Moreover, the third picture not only shows a pattern but also has an interesting composition. The photograph is split into 3 sections by the roof of the architecture. At the same time, each part has a pattern produced by the windows of the building, and even in the background, there is a different pattern generated by another building. All together, the unique composition and the patterns make the photo visually appealing. Finally, the last picture consists of various patterns created by multiple shapes and textures. The interesting composition of the three different patterns in one photo produces a sense of order accompanied by diversity, creating outstanding visual effects. In conclusion, the four pictures in the Red Selections exhibit my vision through the use of pattern and composition, revealing the beauty and charism of architecture.
