I chose these three photos because they were all presented in monochrome and highlighted the formal elements of line, shape, and pattern in modern architecture. In addition, this triptych progressively zooms into the building I attempt to emphasize (Initially from the pentagon in the first picture, which is far from the buildings aside, then to a closer position in the second picture, where half of the building’s features are displayed, and finally to the entire view of the building in the third picture).

I chose these three photos because they emphasized the shape of a triangle, achieved by highlighting the formal elements of the line. Additionally, the architecture captured in these pictures is made up of countless small rectangular-shaped windows that are tightly packed together, which introduces the formal element of pattern as well. Moreover, these images share similarities in the black-and-white lens, which underscores the details within these architectures and delivers a sense of awe and simplicity to the viewers.
