Describe the societal/cultural issue or identity concept you want to explore with your photographs :

I want to explore the impact of digital identity and the juxtaposition between physical and virtual realities. The project will delve into how I express and present my identities through digital avatars and in tangible realms, which creates contrasts.

Find some photographers/photographs or look at photography genres that inspire – not too much detail, but a general idea. You need to show that your research has purposefully informed and inspired your project.

Create a mood board highlighting the societal/cultural issue I want to explore with my photographs. Once you have a concept you can create a mood board. This is like the “mind map” but much more focused. Include images from task 3 as well as other ideas. Images don’t have to be portraits – anything that inspires. You could even include textures and colours if they inspire (example: the colour of your flag, if that is important to you.)

Statement of Intent

The title of this project is ‘Duality of Representation within Individuals’.

The societal and cultural issue I want to explore with my photographs is the intersection of physical and digital identity. Specifically, I will present how individuals (in this project, me) construct and express themselves in both the tangible and virtual realms. The project aims to highlight the complexities and nuances of navigating identity in the digital age.

I want my audience to feel a sense of intrigue and reflection as they navigate the visual narratives within realistic (body) representation and digital avatars. Through the exploration of these dual identities, I aim to foster a deeper understanding of how technology influences self-expression.

I will get inspiration and develop my ideas by looking for photographs that capture the essence of digital avatars, portraits with a mixture of realistic elements and virtual representations, and the conceptual exploration of identity in contemporary art.
