My poem is about short story “Lamb of the Slaughter” by Roald Dahl. This short story is about a couple, Mr. and Mrs. Maloney and how Mrs. Maloney killed Mr. Maloney and how she slyly hid the evidence. I believe the external conflict is that Mrs. Maloney killed Mr. Maloney and the internal conflict is Mrs. Maloney’s mindset or the thoughts that push her into killing her husband. My poem shows both the internal and external conflict because I included Mrs. Maloney’s feelings when Mr. Maloney told her about the bad news and also included the real killing part which I identify as the external conflict. My illustration supports my poem because it shows the external conflict, Mrs. Maloney killing Mr. Maloney using the leg of the lamb. My font choice also supports my poem because I felt like it fit the theme of my poem and the short story and I chose it because I felt like it looked more serious since killing isn’t a casual activity.
