VISION 2:

With reference to Aaron Siskind, my new vision aims to capture the natural beauty of objects by amplifying their surface texture. Taking the photo from a close perspective, viewers are presented with the intricate details of objects we do not necessarily associate with. I’m inspired to create expressive forms independent from the original subject, creating visual tensions and maximizing the textual details.

The photos above demonstrate primarily texture, focus, and patterns. By using a close and intimate perspective, the photographer captures every aspect of the subject, including its shapes and surface quality. This makes his artwork more tangible to the viewer, enhancing their experience. Physical features such as the cracks in the wallpaper are accentuated to create a detailed and focused scenery. In addition, the photographer employs tonality to emphasize black-and-white contrasts, further highlighting the textual details of his subject. His artworks relate to my vision because they present a distinctive perspective of subjects detached from their conventional image.

I have chosen this photo in particular because it is an evident representation of texture and tone. I like how only part of the wood is illuminated, which creates a clear sense of layering. Different from his other artworks, the lighting also guides the viewer’s attention toward the part that is emphasized, further highlighting the textual details, including stylistic patterns on the tree bark. My chosen artist is abstract because his artwork does not accommodate any inherent perspective. Instead, he takes casual photos that are delicately configured, some emphasizing texture while others address narrativity.

YELLOW PHOTOS

I have chosen the photos above as my yellow photos, as they align with my vision to capture textual details that maximize the subject’s surface beauty. However, some of the photos emphasize other elements, such as focus and shapes.

GREEN PHOTOS

I have chosen the photos above because they present an aesthetically appealing scene with texture as the primary emphasis. However, certain photos still detach from the general artistic atmosphere.

RED PHOTOS

I have chosen and manipulated the photos above to amplify the tonality (Black and white contrast) because of their resemblance to my reference artist. The images convey expressive forms that encompass a sense of mundanity, antiquity, and diversity in perspectives. The image in the middle elicits a distinctive perception of the train from a low-angle perspective, gazing through the window. In addition, the tonality and textual patterns on the left add depth to the composition.
