Photo Gallery: Sally Davies
Techniques:
Rule of Thirds: Subjects are positioned in one of the three intersections, or in the middle
Spaces: Subjects are integrated within the larger context, creating different spaces
The artist unravels the hidden beauty in a variety of mundane scenarios, with the subjects and context intertwined to create a harmonious composition. This inspires me to capture photos of different people interacting with architectural backgrounds in a natural manner. The context of street photography adds a sense of simplicity and sentiment to the photos, presenting the artistic and mundane aspects of streets. The artist also employs a variety of colors in each of his photos, with contrasting colors displayed in the background. The photo I like the most is the second last photo, with a relatively chill and gloomy atmosphere to convey senses of tranquility and serenity. The subject in the photo is positioned according to the rule of thirds, and everything in the photo is in sharp focus. Again, the photograph is captured from a wide perspective, which is inspirational for me to create photos with similar compositions, including the backgrounds and different colors.
Photograph Genre: Landscape
The decisive movement: creating a harmonious composition with a variety of lines and shapes from architectures; guiding attention to the subject
Work with the scene: Take more than one photo of the same scene; do not plant your feet in the same position and angle.
The fishing technique: Pick a street corner and set the camera to stationary until someone or something interesting enters the frame
Capture gestures: Capture body language and facial expressions, then you will capture strong emotions, creating dynamic movements
Get really close. Get to a distance that is one arm’s length, creating intimacy and emotional proximity.
Eye contact: Wait until the subject is in front of the camera with mutually intersecting visions. It is essential to capture any natural emotions on the spot.
