During this unit, I was designing the bushes for the trees that will appear in the film. To design this bush, firstly, I had to consider the size, which is the length, and width of the bush. Secondly, I need to think about what the tree looks like, for example, the pattern of the rhizome, and how thick or thin which part of the bush should be. About my planning process, firstly, we went to the theater and saw how does the tree look like, and measured the width, length, and base. Secondly, I discuss with my partner Gavin the appearance and size of the bush. Thirdly, I and my partner start to draw down our idea on paper and keep modify our idea. And eventually, I start to make the model of the bush on software called Autodesk Fusion and then let our teacher check if it does look ok. After the design, we receive feedback about our bush being so twiggy, so we work on this part again to Improve on this part. While I am making the props, there are some challenges when cutting out the woods. There are a lot of details and patterns that I need to be careful of while I am cutting the wood because if I spoiled this part, the final product won’t be good-looking. And it is very hard to cut the detail while using the cutter because it is very heavy and hard to control the movement of the cutter. But in this situation, I and my partner Lucy make a routine for using the cutter, so it will bring us some time for rest. While working on the project, I learn how to use and control the cutter, and learn how to sand the wood more efficiently after cutting, and why we need to sand the wood. Finally, I think our product is good enough for the film, despite some parts of it being rough and needing to improve, but I still believe they will have good-looking on the stage.
