The goal of the project called “Tradition in Transition” is to show how traditional cultures and architecture can clash with modernization and progress. Through photography, I want to tell the story of how the fast progress of the future threatens to destroy long-standing traditions and buildings, replacing them with sleek skyscrapers and simple designs. My goal is for viewers to feel conflicted as they try to decide if the benefits of progress are greater than the losses of cultural heritage. To do this, I will look at pictures that show how traditional and modern architecture clash. I will use contrasts in color and background to show how preservation and development are at odds with each other. I’m also going to look into black-and-white photography techniques, adding small touches of color to make the transition even more complicated.
