Fatal discrimination

I made this video with my partner, and we tried to make this video seem like a real-life story. People go through discrimination because of their inequalities, and this video builds sympathy and empathy for our community. I am proud that we made this video successful, and thanks for watching!

A Bloody Struggle to End a Dictatorship! Blood!

José is my name. My words will take you on a voyage through the fierce fights on the road to change during the Mexican Revolution in my ancient. My dusty diary with worn-out pages explains my adventure. I joined the battle of Ciudad Juarez, and the Zapatistas afterward. I am fueled by courage, strength, and a burning desire for change in this revolution. This is the story of my doubts, triumphs, and the ever-changing world around him. Ten years of corruption, bribery, bloodshed, and social injustice had reached a tipping point.

The Mexican Revolution was a protracted, deadly conflict between numerous factions that saw continual changes in alliances and ultimately led to the end of Mexico’s 30-year dictatorship and the installation of a constitutional republic. Many were enraged. Many wanted to change. This marked the beginning of the Mexican Revolution. Mexico’s revolution began with President Porfirio Diaz, an absolute tyrant, and culminated with Alvaro Obregon creating the Constitutional Republic in 1917. Over many years, hundreds of conflicts, and an abundance of sacrifices. Mexico was ultimately stabilized by Alvaro Obregon.

After the Mexican Revolution, two things remained constant: the instability of the revolution delayed its completion until the 1930s. The Constitution of 1917 ended the revolution.  At the same time, two things changed: the revolution ended Porfirio Diaz’s dictatorship, and Mexican presidents have been barred from seeking a second term since 1928. Politics and social liberties were established in the 1917 Constitution, while Catholicism’s role was limited. The 1917 Constitution established politics and social liberties while placing restrictions on the role of Catholics. Despite their disagreements over the fundamentals of the revolution, Emiliano Zapata, Pancho Villa, Porfirio Diaz, Victoriano Huerta, Venustiano Carranza, Francisco Madero, and Alvaro Obregon stand for the prospect that the legacy of the Mexican Revolution is more than the sum of its parts.

The Fascinating Revolution Heroes of the Mexican Revolution

A photograph from the Mexican Revolution may appear to be nothing more than a photograph, but the tale behind it is very astounding. The teacher showed us this photograph during the first seminar. After first seeing the photograph, my perception of “it’s just a photo” changed. “Ten Tragic Days,” an essential incident in the Mexican Revolution, has subverted my cognition.

Overthrowing the government by force is considered a revolution. When individuals use the word “force,” they are indicating that they are no longer able to solve the situation and that something has to be altered. Problems spark revolutions. In 1910, liberals and intellectuals began to oppose dictator Porfirio Diaz’s government. A fundamental reason for the revolution was Porfirio Diaz’s economic policies, the unequal distribution of land, profound economic inequality, and the lack of democratic institutions.

This film highlights the revolution’s major events and turning points. It begins by presenting the important revolutionary figures in this revolution, then discusses the dissatisfied peasants and factory employees, as well as Diaz’s abdication. Explore this fascinating revolution down below!

Unexpected Superpowers

Quiet Power is a non-fiction book by Susan Cain, it compares introverts and their difficulty in our loud and chaotic world. In this book it gives you examples of introverts who succeeded and different non-fiction stories about people in different varieties of age. Susan Cain’s story shows the central idea that: “Introverts should maintain their abilities to think creatively, brainstorm in their own quiet ways, and not succumb to socially accepted, extroverted methods of working” (Friedman 1).  The central idea I think that summarizes the whole book is: Introverts are more likely to succeed.  I realized this was the main idea because the author hints early on in the book that introverts are powerful, and the author also gave us examples of famous people that succeeded as an introvert. I like this book mainly because normally the books always talks about why extroverts are good. Socializing is stressful for introverts, and they need a lot of courage to speak up. In this book, it shows the readers the lives of introverts, and how they see the world. This book is a highly compelling to read, where surprises peak around every turn-of-the-page. Quiet Power can change your life, introverts, or extroverts, you can also listen to Susan Cain TedTalk and read this book to get more tips on your life. Please scroll down to see the analysis of the main ideas and recurring themes from this fantastic quiet superpower! This is the note I took on my first day, about Quiet Power. It shows my thinking in the book at first and the first theme I came up with was that being introverted should not be a bad thing, it is a thing to cherish. Throughout this book the author Susan Cain gave examples of why introverts are valuable, vulnerable, and how the powerful introverts can impact the society.  It also gives us life tips and examples of introverts and their lives.

Below is a picture of my central ideas, themes, and social issues from day 2. The central idea that I sticked to the most was probably this one: “Being introverted is not something to outgrow; it is something to accept and grow into-and even to cherish”(Cain 27). This central idea is very important to introverts and extroverts, and it tells the world that introverts should not be underestimated. Some introverts will probably have some problems socializing, and I think the most important social issue is: Discrimination against introverts because of misunderstanding. This sort of connects with the central idea I just shared and people sometimes isn’t thoughtful of them.

Below is a picture of my notes about a central idea: Introverts are also successful. This book does not have a protagonist, it has a lot of different minor characters. If you are an introvert, you can find some examples that are similar to your life. The book is split up to 6 sections, it starts with a manifesto for introverts and have different examples of introverts life in different settings.

Below is a picture of my notes on a cause and effect from day 9 it shows the balance between yin and yang, which in this case means introverts and extroverts. My notes shows how different causes and effects connect to each other.

As an extrovert I’ve learned a lot about introverts in this book, it made me think more about how I should treat introverts. I deeply encourage you to read this book, because introverts do not really feel welcome and safe in our society, but if we learn about them, we can make a world a better place. Introverts and extroverts are just like Yin and Yang, we need to balance our world and always be supportive! Thanks for reading this blog post! Hugely appreciated!

Humanist? YESS… OR…. NO….

For me to understand about the era of the Renaissance, I had to look at the ideas of a humanist. According to what I think I am, I am 88.8% a humanist. I believe the way a humanist think has their own reason, they had strong ideas the influences us in modern society. Personally I believe valuing the thoughts of each individual for who they are, the independence and ability to enjoy your own life. Even though the past can positively impact us for everything we know now, but I do not believe that we should look into the past that deeply, we should focus in the present and what we should do in the future.

The Purse That Changed a Kid

The found poem above I took was from the 1st and 2nd pages of “Thank You, Ma’m” by Langston Hughes. The conflict of the article is man vs man conflict, it shows that the protagonist has a hard decision in his mind about whether he should run away from Ms. Jones or not. The story’s climax is when Ms. Jones lets go of Roger and give him a chance to run away, but he doesn’t. He wants to make it up to Ms. Jones and wants her to trust him, eventually, that did happen and that leads to the resolution of the story of how Mrs. Jones trusts him and gives Roger $10 for the shoes he wanted for a long time. The conflict could change to be a life-changing moment, and we see how Roger’s characteristic changed through out the passage. The story teaches the readers how people could be nice to others,  even if they did something wrong, bad people could still learn and change to become better people.

My drama adventure vlog!

My project is a vlog I made, I choose to make a vlog for drama because corona is a very weird period of time, so I wanted to remember the time. I also have been thinking about making a vlog post when Ms. Northcott introduced the project.

My process is first planning out my scenes and sort of record some and choose the best things I do in a daily basis. Then I recorded and edited my video, at last I put the voice overs.

I started putting my captions and then I added a bit more things, then I figured out the captions were messed up because I added stuff, and now I learned that I have to put the captions and the voice overs last.

I feel like next time I can make my vlog not as shaky and clearer since this was my first time doing a real vlog.

Eva’s Speaker “Design Reflection”

I struggled a lot in 2 places, my 1st struggle is  finding a place to put the chip,  I wanted my speaker to be rounded in the corners, but the chip is right cornered, so it was very hard to solve it. My second struggle was finding a way to measure the speaker box, because it was rounded so it wasn’t really right.

I am very proud that I found a way to solve these 2 problems, by making a facade that has rounded corners on the top, and right corners at the bottom, so I can but my right angle chip inside. I decided to make the top corners still round, because I wanted it to look more like a kawaii aesthetic, and I felt like if it was a right corner, it will not be as cute.

If I started it from the beginning and did it again, I would add a layer of wood on the speaker, because my speaker right now is very fragile, and if I accidentally pressed the speaker, it will be useless, and break, I would also make a frame, because I forgot to make one, and so I used popsicle sticks, and pretended that it is a frame. I haded to put a layer, because the nails were sticking out, so I couldn’t stick facad on my speaker.

My first song I plan to listen to is “Jar Of Hearts”, it is very important to me because my sister preformed this song for a school performance, and it was her favorite song, so I decided to learn it. I wanted to surprise my sister about it, because she went to Columbia for summer camp for about 2 months. I eventually learned it, and I did surprise her, she was really amazed when she sang it again, and I sang it with her. I also learned how to play it on the ukulele and on my cello. This song has become one of my favorite song from that on, and I will always remember it. And I choose this song because my sister is going to Sydney in about 2 weeks, and I’m going to play it for a memory.

Chip design project reflection

Reflection:

Introducing my project

My problem solver for food waste is about keeping the chip dust from making your hands get dirty.  My design has 2 sections, the first section which is the first hole is for chips, and the second hole is for flavoring/ chip dust.

I think my biggest success was that i actually got to make the flipping piece using duct tape, at first the duct tape was sticking everywhere, but I successfully taped it right and got my lid.

I think my biggest obstacle is that I forgot to put a piece of cardboard in the middle of the 2 wholes to separate the sections, it was really hard to put it in since I already glued everything together,at last I measured how it will fit in and glued it down.

Cup Warmer

Cup warmer

For my cup warmer, I think that it worked pretty good, it only dropped 10 degrees. My partners are Serena and Jade. At last our cap fell off and we had a little bit of material, so we just use tape from our homeroom and just fixed it. We did 2 experiment, the first one dropped like 16 degrees, but after we fixed the cap it was better, so I think we did a great job observing and making changes to make it better! I think if we do this again what we’ll change is making the cap better,  we can maybe make the cap thicker and use more foil, because the cap is mostly made out of foil, and it’s the hottest part of the cup. So it can trap for heatness and coldness, because when you buy cold stuff from the grocery store it gives you something like foil. So I think foil does the best job.
