I remember Beirut is not what you probably expect of a comic. This short graphic novel is not an history itself but a compilation of author, Zeina Abirached’s childhood memories who was born in Beirut in 1981.
Abirached was born in Lebanon in 1981. She grew up in Beirut as fighting between Christians and Muslims divided the city streets. Follow her past cars riddled with bullet holes, into taxi cabs that travel where buses refuse to go, and on outings to collect shrapnel from the sidewalk.
This book shows a modern warfare view in a eyes of a family. In the book pg46 it shows that people must leave the city because the war, but all the road were closed, it need at least 5 hours to get to the nearest city. Also on pg48 it shows the family were move to refuge camp though the war. This shows that the war is causing civilian to leaving there home on a run way.
In the book pg 59 it shows a picture of Christians and Muslims should be gather up and stop the war. This picture shows that already many people( Christians and Muslims) are tired of the war that cause they can’t have a peaceful life.
Here is my note
