Artist

I will take inspiration from the artist Jamel Shabazz. His work captures urbanisation and diversification by showing different individuals on city streets. He captures not only the diversity of fashion and architecture, but also the stories that the people he meets want to present. Through his photographs, he creates a connection between the subject and the city, and the photographs show that he wants to photograph not only the city and the people, but also the diversity in the background. This is similar to my intention. His use of color, composition, environment, and close-ups adds a modern touch to his work, and it doesn’t just have colorful photographs, he also highlights those he wants to express by turning the background and surrounding colors into black and white. I chose this photographer because he also captures the feel of the city and the diversity in the background, as well as aspects of the story such as the fashion of the subjects. I’m going to take a similar approach but I’m going to use lighting to make the photo more informative.
