The book I am reading is The 57 Bus by Dashka Slater. It revolves around an accident on the 57 bus and why it would happen and how it was solved. The plot is in Oakland, California. This book tells us the third choice outside of the usual binaries: male or female, good and bad. One of our main characters is Sasha and they are agender. They tell us about Sasha’s journey and what they had to do to come out as a third gender. Then our second main character Richard is very funny and jokes around a lot. He does not like people who don’t identify as male or female and wanted to joke around and accidentally lights up Sasha’s dress. Trials were then held and Richard felt sincerely sorry for his actions. Richard is not an evil antagonist but simply someone who made a bad choice. This story also through Richard’s POV points out the issue of colored people not getting enough education and skipping school. The slight discrimination is also hinted in the story.
This found poem page was an expert from the book lamb to slaughter by Roald Dahl. This is from page 7 of the book. I believe this story contains both internal and external conflict. For external I think it is the conflict Mary has with her husband realizing that her husband is going to leave her. This lead to the death of her husband This would be a character vs character conflict. Evidence I would say is that Mary rejecting to believe that her loved husband is going to leave her which leads to her killing her husband with the frozen lamb leg. For internal I think it is the inner thoughts Mary has after killing her husband, she wonders if her unborn child is going to be affected, this lead to her final decision of covering up her crime. I drew this image and believe it is an representation of the mood and ambience in this story from dark red to light red it feels like the mood change of mary and the lines represent the complexity of the story and how the story is led up to the point that I wasn’t expecting at the start.
