Lamb of the slaughter found poem

Lamb of the slaughter

This found poem is from “Lamb to the slaughter” by Roald Dahl. Our main character Ms. Maloney murdered her husband without any doubt with a leg of a lamb because he said he will leave Ms. Maloney while she’s pregnant. Now she faces two choices: go to the police and commit she killed her husband or fake the whole crime and call the police. At last, she chose the second choice, and the police came.

The background are yellow lines across the whole paper because it looks like a crime scene, and it goes along with the theme because Ms. Maloney killed her husband, and the police came. The word “Nausea” also explained how sad and shocked Ms. Maloney felt and this feeling helped the story to go forward and gives Ms. Maloney motivation to kill her husband, Mr. Patrick. The word “Imagined” also created a foreshadow for the crime because it shows that she already started to plan, to imagine how to kill her husband. The word “Lamb” is also important because it’s the weapon and its special, if she killed him with a club, it will be found easily, but with a leg of a lamb it won’t be, because she can destroy it so easily and what she need to do is just to cook it and cut it into pieces and feed it to the police. The word “steel club” showed how hard the leg was, so it’s basically telling us her husband is dead.

The external conflicts are: Ms.Maloney vs. Mr.Patric; Ms.Maloney vs. Mr.Patric. The internal conflicts are: Ms.Maloney facing 2 choices: Go to the police station and commit the crime she did, or fake the whole crime and call the police to pretend to be innocent. At last, she chose the second choice. These conflicts are important elements in the story that really helps it keep on going, and conflicts also shows the character’s personality.

The story its self is very interesting and engaging, I really suggest the readers go read it!
