Dashka Slater’s The 57 Bus, is a riveting nonfiction book for teens about race, class, gender, crime, and punishment. This book is mainly talking about a true story of a teen who identifies as an agender and has been set on fire by another African American boy. writing about the good and bad in all of us, and how someone’s whole life can change in the time it takes to flick a lighter. The main themes in this story are gender discrimination and the justice system.
