About the Images:
The Image on the right, portrays the artist taking an image of himself in the way-view mirror while equally showing what he sees to his side. The frame of the way-view mirror establishes a clear line that breaks up the image.
The image in the center, like the image on the right, creates an unsymmetrical line that breaks up the image.
The image on the left, shows the artist taking the image of a shop window while ultimately showing an image of a lamppost. At first glance, it seems like the lamp post is just a part of the reflection but when taking a closer look, it is established that the image is made up of 2 different images.
Naoya Hatakeyama
Naoya Hatakeyama is a Japanese Photographer born on March 19, 1958. His work explores human intervention with the landscape and natural materials, including the life of cities and the built environment.
All three of these images were taken upside down, using the reflection made in the puddle. The puddle that was used, gives these images a blurry effect while creating a rainy effect that makes it seem like the image was taken on a rainy day and that the image is the right way up.
