Light Movement in the dark top 3

These photos were taken in a park, I used shutter speed and ISO to create the movement of the lights leaving tracks behind. The colors have a huge contrast with the background which is mostly black and dark colors, the colors are the focusing points in the pictures, which also works as a “hook” to catch the audience’s eyes. The lighting and the colors create this magical and dreamy vibe, which demonstrates the unique designs. The cars and the buildings works together with the colorful lighting creating a futuristic feel. The light trail movements from side to side looks like shooting stars, adding on to the magical and dreamy vibe. Looking at these photos feels like entering a dream,  where magic is possible.

In the first photo, you see a strong sense of movement created by the blur across the image. This makes it feel like the camera was moved while taking the picture, adding energy to the scene. The bright greens of the trees stand out against the cooler blue and white lights from the buildings, creating a lively mix of colors. The different lights add depth and interest, making the scene feel more vibrant. The path curves, inviting the viewer to look a bit deeper into the picture. But overall, the mood is lively and energetic, capturing the excitement of the city at night.

The second photo features a lot of vertical blur created by ISO and shutter speed using the lights and creating these tracks, which gives it an abstract look and emphasizes the tall buildings. The deep blues and purples create a moody atmosphere, while the bright lights pop against the dark background showing contrast. The buildings are arranged symmetrically, framing the center, where the light shines the brightest and making the lighting tracks pop. This guides the viewer’s eye to the middle of the photo. The overall feeling is more dreamlike, inviting the viewer to think about the urban landscapes.

In the third photo, the diagonal blur gives a sense of action, making it feel like a lively city. The warm yellow lights from the streetlamps contrast nicely with the cool blue colors of the buildings, creating a striking effect. Making the streetlights stand out, lighting up the scene, while the light trails from passing cars add to the feeling of movement. The path leads the viewer’s eye into the picture, adding depth. As a conclusion, the mood is energetic and vibrant, capturing the busy life of the city at night, with a hint of mystery in the darker areas.

Statement of Intent

I will be working with the lights on the streets, I will be taking pictures of the lights and create movement with the lights. My goal is to create photos of building lights with movement with the use of people and cars in the dark to create this futuristic and colorful theme, a simulation of a dream. I will be using specific ISO speed to make the photos show movement. The theme of this set of creations will be a futuristic dreamy vibe. To show this concept, I will be creating my photos with everyday objects to show how commen the things are, but the photos will be taken in specific angles that make the objects look more unreal and dreamy. I will be mainly using framing, leading lines, patterns, balanced, negative space for my photos, and for the techniques I will be making sure I use ISO and shutter speed to create a movement look to the photos which is also the most important part.

Artists

Marius Vieth:

Marius Vieth is a photographer known as his captivating long exposure and light painting work. His photos are mostly about human and car’s movement, the photos are taken in the dark at areas with a lot of colored lightings. The lights are colorful while the background is pitch black showing negative space. The photos he took are all showing color contrast and huge lighting differences.

I want my final photos to be like Vieth’s capturing movement in the dark with bright colors and huge contrasts.

Ernst Haas:

Haas was an influential Austrian-American photographer,  his photographs shows color contrast in lights and the people and buildings in the photos creates a light track created with shutter speed. The photos shows negative space and the colors of the photos creates colors of tracts in the sky showing the track/path of the object once were.

My photos are going to be created also with lighting movement, just like Haas did with the lighting tracks. I will be taking photos of buildings and try to create more colorful light tracks.

nature reflection top 3

The unedited photos were colorful; the brightness and darkness differences are not as noticeable. The colors in the background brings an unreal feeling because of the unnatural colors. After editing, the photo has more color contrast, and the lighting and the brightness is all more noticeable. The background is showing negative space, which looks more realistic and natural. In these three chosen photos, detailed close-ups of leaves are highlighted, highlighting their textures and the effects of water droplets. The droplets create points of interest on the leaves, drawing the viewer’s eye to their shapes and reflections. They act like tiny jewels, adding sparkle and texture to the composition.

The first photo focuses on a series of heart-shaped leaves, each adorned with glistening droplets. The use of color contrast between the dark background and the highlights of the leaves createing a dramatic effect. The deph of field emphasizes the main leaves, making them stand out while softly blurring the background. This technique draws the viewer’s eye directly to the intricate details of the leaves.

Similar to the first, the second photo also captures leaves but with a slightly different angle and different leaves. The highlights on the droplets enhance their visual appeal, making them appear almost like jewels. The repetition of shapes creates a rhythmic pattern that guides the viewer’s gaze along the line of leaves showing leading lines.

For the third image, we see a fern with water droplets. The photo giving a really heavy texutre looking at the waterdroplets, of the fern’s fronds, which is accentuated by the droplets, that adds interest and depth. The monotonous colors used emphasizes the shapes and patterns without the distraction of color, making the details more pronounced.

Overall, I think this collection of photos really represents nature. It shows the beauty of nature and it’s charm, the colors are monotonous making the photos look cordinate. The bright spots and the dark spots really creates a contrast with the waterdrops atracting the audience’s view really making it well created.

Statement of Intent

I will be working with water droplets and nature materials. My goal is to create photos of animal and plants with the use of raindrops/water droplets to create this wet and natural look the plants, a simulation of an actual plant. I will be using a spray bottle and a drip irrigation to create the water droplets on the plants. The theme of this set of creations will be the 3d motion of nature, it can reflect the beauty of nature after pouring rain. Healthy looking plants is also a great creation of the concept. To show this concept, I will be creating my photos with the same objects but in different editing ways and with different angles and use different amount and size of water dropslets. I will be mainly using framing, leading lines, patterns, balanced, negative space for my photos, and for the techniques I will be making sure I use IOS and shutter speed.
