Famous for her dramatic, eccentric, and timeless celebrity photos, Annie Leibovitz is a photographer. Her use of vibrant colors, well lit scenes, and well-staged environments define her work.

These are pictures of her work, these three are the photos I like best from her work and planning to imitate. The first photo is a woman wearing a red dress, the three photos are all taken when the model is looking at the camera and there is also a monkey on the woman’s back. I think the red colored dress made contrast with the greenish background, this red is really eye catching and it helps the photo to look more profound and interesting. The second photo’s focus is on the girls eyes, the blue color matching the background and the pale skin color protrude the eyes. The third photo is a full-body shot that has nature as background with lots of green, the person in the picture also wearing green fitting the theme color of the picture and the hat as the pictures highlight.

I like how her work has the models staring into the camera making the eyes a focus. I will be trying to use color contrast in my photos and dark backgrounds.

These pictures taken in the hutong is my top 20 picks, I tried photographing people with the sky as the background and in a lower angle. Capturing people in this certain angle was really hard, because if I would want to take the pictures in this angle I will have to ask the person for permission so it would be harder.

I edited the photo’s color and light to make a difference in texture, I have changed the lighting in the middle brighter and the sides darker for the first two of the images. The third one was edited with the lighting and the picture is cropped. These pictures are all focusing on people and their daily.

A photographer I want to follow is Nicolas Golding, her photography shows contrast in light and she takes photos in a unique angle that has the sky as the background.

I will mostly be taking pictures of people and animals. These are the different kinds of photos I will be taking at the Hutong during the trip, these are unedited photos but I will be editingmyfinal photos taken in Hutonginto black and white colors. I like how these photos are taken with the sky as the background in the back, these show really cool contrast with color and light.

These photos shows layering with objects in front of people that have reflection made by the sunlight reflecting on the person.

Vivian Maier;

Vivian Maier is an American amateur street photographer whose main job is as a nanny. Vivienne is of French descent. She was born in New York but grew up in France. After returning to the United States, she lived in New York and Chicago. She took more than 100,000 photos in her life. In 2007, local historian John Maloof discovered a large number of her negatives and began organizing them.

You can see that the photos she takes have a really natural feeling, you can tell that they have been taken without notice . The coloring of picture she takes is different, she uses both black and white and colored photographs. I personally like her colorful pictures more but because I have been taking colorful images for multiple times, I will be trying out something new and editing my photos into the same black and white tone. I will be taking pictures up close and from far away making sure I ask people for permission for the closeups. She also takes pictures of people from mirrors as a reflection, this is a great way of demonstrating as a reflection photography.  Kids and animals are also seen in her photography, not only adults will be the focus. Her photograph shows abstract in color, lines, theme, and texture.

A more closer look to the picture of the woman in the middle with the mirror, I really like how she captured this photo without the woman looking into the camera even through a mirror. The color of it is black and white, there are two mirrors shown in the picture which has reflections of both the woman and the other mirror. This shows a contrast of reality and reflection making the image’s audience think deeper of the situation. To me, the mirror and reflection happens is maybe because the woman is trying on something for her hair that she needs to mirror it to see whether it looks good on her.  I am not sure if I will be able to take this kind of photography because of the unknown number of mirrors I am going to see with people trying on something using it.

Daidō Moriyama; His style favors high-contrast, grainy images. His photos are often harsh and blurred. This gives them an abstract quality. The tilted horizons and fragmentary compositions highlight urban angst.

I really like how he captures (takes pictures) the movement in life

Helen Levitt; In her later career, she worked in color and black and white. Her color images of the 1960s paved the way for other street photographers.

I really like her color contrast she makes

Saul Leiter; His images capture the quiet moments of the city. Soft focus and reflections give his pictures an impressionistic, painterly quality.

I really like how the photo is taken through a glass, the person didn’t even notice the picture getting taken.

William Klein; Klein shoots with a wide-angle lens in a quick and energetic style. His urban photography shows motion blur and grain. His is a world off-center. Fashion

I like how he takes reflections and fashion pictures through mirrors

Ansel Adams;

Ansel Easton Adams was an American photographer born in San Francisco. He is known for his black and white landscapes, the most famous of which is the Yosemite National Park series. He also writes on photographic subjects, such as his trilogy on technological innovation. In the photography community f/64, which he helped to found, masters such as Edward Weston, Willard Van Dyke, and Imogen Cunningham can be seen.

This picture has a black and white theme, it is a picture of nature from a very high up perspective. The picture gives mysterious vibes. I used same ideas in my photographs, such as the theme is about nature and some pictures are taken from a long distance.

All the pictures that were chosen red, has a better feeling and vibe does the others give. These are the three photos that are chosen red. The first picture was chosen because of the way that the picture focused on the leaves, the sunlight was seen through them gives me a really chill vibe

This picture here shows a really interesting texture, it has really pretty layers.

this picture is chosen as a red colored picture because  of the texture and the layering.

This picture is chosen as red because this picture has a really unconventional element in it, being a tree, there is a nail in the branch seems really unusual. The texture of the tree is also shown really clearly.

I think 9 has the best. Compared to my photographs, they didn’t work out as well because the pictures were very perfectly shaped and it wasn’t easy to find subjects like this.

Abstract photography can be defined as capturing images in which the subject isn’t the most interesting element. Albert Renger-Patzsch, Edward Weston and Aaron Siskind photographed the ordinary to reveal their beauty. Uta Barth reversed the typical use of the camera, shooting out of focus and Andreas Gursky photographs the repetition of elements.

Gentle World

I want my audience to think about a natural environment, about the nature. I want my audience to leave stress behind when seeing these photographs, feel emotions and take themselves feeling the air and a comfort. I will get inspiration and develop my ideas by looking for photographs that show an positive institute of the nature. My photographs will be colorful and light colored.

Personally, I think abstract photography means  “a portion of a natural scene may be isolated in an abstract photograph to obscure the viewer’s comprehension of the scene’s larger context“.
