Drawing of elements

My elements

First of all, I like the last three since they got unique perspective even if its easily seen in our daily life,

however few picture with close texture was hard to take because there were few amount of object that has specific texture.

I think Weston expressed candid frustration with those who described his peppers in sexual tones:

The peppers which are libeled more than anything I have done, ‒ in them has been found vulvas, penises or combinations, sexual intercourse, Madonna with child, wrestlers, modern sculpture, African carving, ad nauseam, according to the state of mind of the spectator: and I have a lot of fun sizing up people from their findings!

Now call the above explanation my defense mechanism become active [sic], I say that it is disgust and weariness over having my work labeled and pigeonholed by those who bring to it their own obviously abnormal, frustrated condition: the sexually unemployed belching gaseous irrelevancies from an undigested Freudian ferment.

In photography, the “formal elements” refers to the fundamental visual components that contribute to the composition and aesthetics of an image. These elements include line, shape, pattern, texture, tone, and focus.

1.Line: Lines are used to create structure, define shapes, and guide the viewer’s eye through the image. They can be straight, curved, horizontal, vertical, or diagonal. Lines can convey v different moods depending on their direction and characteristics.

Example: Unsplash.com, Photographer: John Doe.

2.Shape: Shapes refer to the defined forms within an image. They can be geometric (circles, squares, triangles) or organic (natural and irregular shapes).

Example: Pixabay.com, Photographer: Jane Smith.

3.Pattern: Patterns are created by the repetition of elements, such as lines, shapes, or colors, within an image. Patterns add rhythm and visual interest to a photograph.

Example:  Pexels.com, Photographer: John Smith.

4.Texture: Texture refers to the tactile quality or visual appearance of surfaces within an image. It can be smooth, rough, soft, or coarse. Texture adds depth, dimension, and a sense of tactile realism to a photograph, allowing viewers to imagine how the subject would feel if touched.

Example:  Unsplash.com, Photographer: Jane Doe.

5.Tone: Tone refers to the brightness, darkness, and contrast in an image. It represents the range of light and shadow within a photograph. Tone sets the mood, atmosphere, and visual impact of an image, and it can create a sense of drama, serenity, or mystery.

Example:  Pixabay.com, Photographer: John Johnson.

6.Focus: Focus refers to the sharpness or clarity of the subject within an image. It directs the viewer’s attention to the main point of interest and creates a sense of depth and dimension within the photograph. Selective focus can isolate a subject from its surroundings, emphasizing its importance.

Example: Pexels.com, Photographer: Jane Johnson.

Yes, an image can certainly emphasize and showcase one specific element at a time. one element may be dominant, other elements will interact with each other to create a composition.

Researching the starting point (Blog Post 3)

  • What is was the Pictorialism Movement in photography?

Pictorialism is a photo that is both a photographic aesthetic and a set of principles about photography’s role as art. It should be approached the camera as a tool that, like the paintbrush or chisel, could be used to make an artistic statement.

  • What was the straight photography movement in photography? Why was it popular amongst photographers?
  • (look at the work of Albert Renger-Patzsch, Edward Weston , Aaron Siskind, Uta Barth and Andreas Gursky)

The Straight Photography Movement is a photography skill that proponents to exploit the better qualities of the photographic medium and change it from painting and other art forms. It advocated for sharp focus, high detail, and the absence of manipulation in the darkroom. The movement was popular amongst photographers because it allowed them to celebrate the  qualities and to capture the world.

  • How have Edward Weston and Aaron Siskind (above) been influenced by the Straight Photography Movement?

Edward Weston was one of the leaders of the Straight Photography movement in the United States. His work is characterized by its high level of detail and lack of manipulation. Aaron Siskind ‘s work was characterized by its focus on the textures, forms, and abstract patterns found in usual life, shows the influence of Straight Photography.

  • What makes the work of Andreas Gursky and Uta Barth abstract? Are they both straight photographers? Why?

Uta Barth and Andreas Gursky are contemporary abstract photographers. The specific skills make them abstract photographer since Barth’s work is characterized by its focus on the incidental and overlooked aspects of visual perception, often featuring blurred, indistinct, or otherwise obscure images and  Gursky used skills such as large-scale, digitally manipulated images of landscapes and architecture, which often feature repetitive patterns and structures.

Edward Weston’s photograph, “Pepper No. 30,” is considered one of the most iconic modernist images.

Abstract Photoshoot (Blog post 2)

Original photo on the left, edited on the right.

I focused the camera on the “MS FICTION” in the back to create a blurred effect.

The only change I made to the photo was to change it to black and white. There was a touch of yellow on the shelf and a green label that read “History” on the side. The burst of colors here distracts the viewer’s eyes from the main subject. I changed the photo to black and white to bring everything to an equal value, with no scattered splash of colors.

I deliberately turned the camera out of focus to create a foggy effect. The photo reminds me of waking up in the morning with greasy eyes and when the first signs of light blends with my body.

I enhanced the saturation in the photo to recreate a warm atmosphere, like waking up when hints of sunlight bleed through my curtain.

This is a random chocolate cover in a bin in library and I took this photo because a unique atmosphere was formed since it was cut off from the surrounding environment. I add some exaggeration by putting shadows and highlight. Also I put Brightness only on the chocolate cover because that was the main focus point that I wanted.

Abstract photography (Blog Post 1)

Abstract photography can be defined as capturing images in which the subject isn’t the most interesting element because it is usually not immediately recognizable depictions of real world objects of scenes and also viewed as different perspective. It shows close up texture, patterns , or shape and using long exposures, intentional blurring, or digitally manipulating a photo in post processing.

#4 Reflect and Share

This is the final product, and it worked well after I change the motor problem. I successfully made a product that can generate energy by human hand and move it to the battery. When you roll the handcraft, you create kinetic energy and it converts to electric energy when it comes to the motor part. The wire attached to the motor moves electric energy to the battery. The thing that I should improve is it doesn’t create much energy so it takes a long time to make the battery fully charged.

The impact of the project will help waste of battery, therefore, it could help us from littering alkalic battery littering. The potential client will be all people who has used battery.

#3 Create and Improve

First of all,I attached a wheel that was made by laser cutting. And then I and motor, then the handle for the handcraft. After that,I attach a wire that could be connected to the actual battery.

It didn’t work well at first try because the motor didn’t worked well so it didn’t actually generate energy. Therefore,I change the motor and it worked well.

#2 Develop and plan

First of all, I will use Fusion to extrude a file and laser cut them to make a wheel and I will connect materials with a wire connection so that electricity could move around.

#1 Define and inquire

My engineering task is “Handcraft Electric generator.”

I was thinking about a “Solar panel car” and a “rubber string car,” But I chose to do this task because the ones mentioned before have no practical use other than play; however, a “Handcraft Electric generator” can actually be used.

I like the overall idea, but I have a better idea of using substances(https://www.google.com/search?q=handcraft+electric+generator&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiVoIXIusz9AhVNkVYBHT4wC0wQ_AUoAXoECAEQAw&biw=1440&bih=821&dpr=2#imgrc=LP8pcyKeyc_v3M )

The audience will be all people older than 3 years who need a battery.

The Handcraft generator makes energy from human power. If you roll the handcraft attached to the product, the wire spin and make the motor spin. And the motor generates the energy and seed to the battery by wire.to This product target people who need a new battery with other stuff. Therefore, they need a battery and other products to consume energy to use this product.
