“Humanism is about the world, not about humanism.”
Humanism is a philosophy, emphasizing the seek of a “whole” person and appreciating the uniqueness of every individual. Essential assumptions of humanism are that humans are inherently good, have free will as they please, have the ability and desire to self-actualize, and the superlative, have the inner knowledge of an individual.
Humanists, the believers of humanism, primarily emphasize the building of a more humane which is the concept of individualism, the most important element of humanism. The Renaissance humanists believed that people should always maintain the ability to control their own lives, asking questions, regardless of the Catholic Church back then, which abandoned people from questioning god and having their originality and creativity.
I gave myself a score of 18/20, which is 90% of a Renaissance humanist because I highly support the concepts of humanism, which takes rational reasoning as its ideological foundation, and kindness and fraternity as its basic values. Personal interests, dignity, and freedom of thought are all things I value. At the same time, I believe I have thoughts and feelings expressed in literature and art, and I enjoy making art and analyzing classic art. I advocate humanity, human rights, and freedom of individuality against personal dependence.
