Final Evaluation

One of the big reasons for these photos was to show the variety in each and every person. Even though all of the subjects in my pictures are siblings, each one is different and unique because they are different in every detail. I was really excited to do these photos to convey this. It is extremely important because often, people find themselves wondering if they are different or if they just blend into the crowd; this shows that everyone is different to the tiniest detail. I was also inspired to continue this because eyes can offer so much in a person; they can show their personality, pain, happiness, and every emotion if you just look. To bring my photos to life, I mainly tried the focus technique we talked about in class; this was very important because if it were blurry or if I used some other method, the photos would seem bland. After all, the different techniques generally needed to fit the theme I was going for. Another thing that brought my picture to life was being able to put multiple people together, showing their differences because if it was only one photo, it would portray a different message than I wanted.

I did not have a specific artist who inspired my idea; I was instead inspired by the quote or saying, “The eyes are the windows to the soul.” This shows that the eyes reveal so much in a person, and it shows identity and shows my identity in the way that it was so important to me to let people know and see this and also for them to feel something from my photos.

Statement of Intent

What I am planning to do in photography

I want to focus on people’s eyes because eyes are said to be the windows to the soul. Eyes are also an aspect of identity because everybody’s eyes are different, and it shows so much in a person. In addition, I think that in many people, there is a theme of self-doubt, the shame of who they are, and wanting to hide who they are. To show this, I want my model to cover most of their face but let either one or both of their eyes peek through their hands. With these photos, the way to make them have more color is to put much light on the eyes to emphasize their color. Combining these two components will give deeper meaning to each photo, showing that everyone has some insecurity and yet everyone has a bright, fantastic personality.

Reason:

I picked these ones to be Green because these photos were better than the others, whether the picture’s quality was better, the angle, or even the subject gave the images the story I wanted. Overall, these photos gave the idea I wanted better than others and stuck out to me compared to the rest of the photos.
